Deloitte Consulting is a multi-national consulting firm that helps other businesses prepares other companies to tackle future problems. The company offers a broad range of consultancy packages that cover human capital management, strategy and operation and technology application 1 . This interview was conducted on 16th of January 2016 with one of the firm’s staff attached to IT department; Mr. Johnson.
From the interview, the following facts were obtained from the interviewee. Johnson is a 43 year American. He graduated about 20 years ago with electrical and electronic engineering degree from a renowned institution in Orlando. He served in the US Army for ten years before leaving to look for something more exciting in the private sector. From his resume he has completed several IT related courses that include computer security the section he confesses he has a lot of interest in.

Johnson acknowledges it is the most dynamic aspect of business and one has to be adept at ever changing and evolving challenges. “Technology is moving forward fast and applications if not well researched become obsolete as soon as they launch” Johnson add. Firms, therefore, prefer to have applications customized for them rather than purchasing market ready software’s that are not competitive. Deloitte offer tailored solutions for business. Deloitte analytic as Johnson explains helps firms (with customized software) to analyze and gain insight of data collected from the organizational operation posts.
Projects
Projects that Johnson took part in are Integration of Business with IT. As Johnson explains, this has been just an idea until we had the right technology and knew how to integrate such technology with daily business chose. The most difficult part of such project is to project what applications will be needed and how well such applications be integrated with business without destructed the flow of work or even simplifying work process. After a great deal of research and comparison of options, Deloitte was confident that business operations should have an expert that will create a meaningful link between IT application and the Businesses processes they named the post to be created in clients’ companies CIO (chief integration officer). Ambient computing was a concurrent project that was meant to facilitate business-IT integration; it is a creation of internet of devices through embedded sensors and connected appliances.
For Ambient Computing to be a success, the firm had to create compatible hardware and software that integrate them. As Johnson Explains; it would be both unsustainable and uneconomical for us to design and produce the hardware for Ambient Computing. Deloitte therefore contracted IBM (renowned IT firm) to develop and produce the desired equipment. The challenge for Ambient Computing is security. Firewalls and security barriers have to be erected o ensure client’s information is secure.
Johnson spends more than half of hi work time in software integration and the rest in research and programming. Deloitte is committed to excellence and in most cases outsource its high-tech project in a small pit. All the integration is done in the firm under strict supervision. The company’s code of conduct prohibits employees to share information pertaining underway and future projects. Employees can only talk about projects that have been completed and sold. The company cannot commit to PIR for reasons that Johnson won’t discuss openly. Deloitte despite being a Leading innovator kin IT it is also a business consultant that lead by example; every project that is uneconomical or has a lot of financial risks have been subcontracted.
