Background 

The individual in this study studied at Niagara University minor in Communication and marketing; she completed her education and graduated in 2012. After graduation, the individual applied to work in various positions across governmental and non-governmental organizations. He worked for two communities for people with disabilities, whereby she was tasked with various roles, including the coordination of activities in the communities. The individual was also required to perform all the bachelor’s event functions. Working at the disabilities’ communities also demanded the individual perform management functions and ensure training and development of other employees within the community. Her role also included management of HR data and performance of analytic works in the organization. She also helped the community by planning succession activities for employees who retired or who gained transfers and promotions. After working for some years, the individual was transferred to a heritage Christian community, whereby she was also tasked with the same roles she performed at disability communities. 

The individual got into the HR field due to her great desire to work with people. She loves connecting with people from different backgrounds; hence saw the HR role as the best suitable position for her to enhance her relationships with people. After working for the heritage services for some time, the individual left and joined Niagara University in the role of an emergency planner. At Niagara University, she was involved in the planning and recruitment of employees for weather disasters. The individual also worked in a homecare facility for 10 months, whereby she performed the recruitment roles. In essence, she has worked in the HR field for more than 9 years and has gained wide experience in interacting with other people. After the expiration of her tenure at the homecare facility, she went back to the heritage services where she works.

What she loves and would like to change in the HR Field 

The individual indicated various things that she likes and others that she would like to change for improvements in this field. First, she loves meeting new people because this position exposes her to people from diverse backgrounds. She notes that her interactions with people have played a crucial role in shaping the person she has become. The individual notes that the HR job enables her to gain widespread knowledge from people from different backgrounds, making her even more equipped with knowledge. The interactions enabled by her role have also enabled her to gain new job recommendations. Her role as an HR has also played a crucial role in gaining motivation in life. She notes that she has seen people seeking employment, growing through the process, and gaining promotions to higher positions due to their dedication to work. Such experiences have enabled her to become a better person and improved her perception of people in general. The individual also loves the fact that she is always busy; hence minimizes her chances of indulging in detrimental activities like negative peer influence. 

She notes that despite her love for the HR job, there are few issues that stress her, and she would like to change them. The individual states that she would like to change the way information is processed due to the storage of client information. The current information processing process involves much paperwork, making the handling of potential and current employees ineffective. She notes that she would like a database for all the agency activities enabling efficiency in HR roles.  

How she learned to Work 

The individual reports that she learned working as an HR through various processes. First, she reports that she underwent the learning process, which enabled her to be prepared for the role theoretically. Through the learning process whereby she attained a bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management, she gained background knowledge into how to deal with various stakeholders within an organization. Secondly, she used her internship role to expand her knowledge in this field. The internship period exposed her to what happens in the field, making her make connections between the field and classwork experiences. In the end, she applied what she learned in classroom work and the practical knowledge gained during the internship. Finally, her years of experience have enabled her to gain more understanding of HR roles and functionality.  

Examples of personal best HR experiences 

HR gains her best experiences when she helps people achieve their career goals. For instance, she states that she is marveled by 15 job openings and completing 5 of the jobs under the stipulated time. She gains feelings of accomplishment by helping people achieve their career goals. She also gains her best experiences by seeing people remember and understand what she trains them. The individual states that she is constantly training employees on improvements n job performance. During the evaluation of her training success, she notes that most of her trainees are able to remember what she taught. This condition gives her feelings of accomplishment and makes her love her role as an HR.  

The connection between learned Content and the Interview 

The interview played a crucial role in expanding my classwork knowledge on the HR role. The interviewee provided me with practical information on how the HR roles are executed. Before the interview, I only understood the HR role from a classwork perspective. However, the interview has provided me with widespread knowledge of how I can use the classwork information in the HR field to make my functionality more effective. The interview has also enabled me to understand the various organizations where I can find employment. Through the interview, I have gotten a widespread understanding of my roles as an HR, including hiring, promoting, and training employees for better organizational outcomes.
