Intrinsic values are indispensable in making a moral judgment. By definition, such values are intrinsic because they exist in their own right and hence, their precedence cannot be overlooked in different settings. Closely related to the above, intrinsic common sense are indispensable in making a judgment in relation to controversial aspects. Although it is generally accepted that common sense reigns and individuals behavior should conform to a baseline that is believed to be common, it cannot be trusted always as a result of several arguments that can be presented.
First of all, common sense is not always common to everyone. Due to the believes that govern the way of life of different communities, some aspects might be regarded as common sense since they have been practiced for so long. At the end of it all, hence, it resonates well with members of such a society but not to outsiders. The interpretation of laws that are deemed common by the members of such a community might not be trusted by the others.

In addition to the above, intrinsic common sense cannot be trusted because there are no specified standards that have been put in place to distinguish aspects that are common sense and those that are not. As the society undergoes different stages of change with time, aspects that might be common to one generation might not be common to the next generation due to the fact that there is no documentation of standards that distinguish what is common sense from what is not. Due to this, it can never be trusted. Were there laws that categorize what is an intrinsic common sense from what is not common sense, it would have been easier to agree to the fact that common sense can be trusted.
On the contrary, however, in some instances, intrinsic common sense can be trusted due to the fact that they are moral values that are reasonably understood by the majority and hence, even the minority who do not understand can learn from the majority. Besides, common sense is moral and therefore, morally acceptable by a significant part of the community.
