Creation of Commitment cards by the athletes is an intrinsic motivational strategy I would prefer for my team. This method is going to be effective because the athletes get to commit themselves and choose a partner whom each will be accountable to (Vink et al. , 2015, p.5). This move will help the athletes have an inner drive to achieve and beat a personal record. Cano et a.l (2018, p.177) posit that competing with oneself ensures that an athlete continually improves in his or her sport.
Utilization of this strategy will be done first by informing the team about the strategy. It is critical that each athlete gets the essence of any new strategies that a coach puts in place (Weissenteiner, 2017, p. 133). Each athlete will then choose a partner they wish to confide in. This will be totally out of free will and not by coercion in any way. At the initial stages of rolling out the plan, the athletes will identify their strongest points in the sport. They will then commit themselves to the area of self-mastery they want to nurture.

According to Shank, and Lyberger (2014, p.25), self-made decisions propel one to keep growing and advancing to achieve their level best. My team will write commitment cards at the beginning of every season. They will be at liberty to share this information with anyone and particularly their partners. Achieving a set goal in a sport increases athletes’ feeling of self-worth hence improving their confidence in doing what they are good at (Cano et al ., 2018, p. 180). The intended results from this plan are that my team players will be more zealous in the sport. They will be motivated by their achievements no matter how other athletes are performing. Inner satisfaction is a major driving force for commitment to a vision.
