The video, "IEP team meeting," addresses Jason needs to manage an Individualized Education Program (IEP) amid his difficult situation. Jason lost his mother, and his father has a tight schedule in his engineering job, a condition that makes it hard for Jason to concentrate on his studies. However, he still struggles to succeed in his academics, which, in my opinion, stressed him up, resulting in vandalization. As a result, an IEP meeting was necessary for him.
I have never attended any IEP meeting before, although I believe that this meeting is a good representation of a typical IEP meeting. According to what I have gathered from reading books and listening from my lecturers, an IEP meeting should describe the student's current performance levels, strengths, needs, and create measurable goals based on the assessment ( Martin et al., 2016 ). This meeting incorporated all these components. Additionally, an IEP meeting addresses the needs of students who need special education and are struggling with coping with school (Dasel & Elisha, 2018). In this case, Jason was having a hard time since he lost his mother and has a very busy father. Therefore, this meeting was necessary to address his needs.

The meeting discussion included much of my expectations. It addressed all IEP meeting components by addressing Jason's situation, challenges, strengths, and goals, which I believe set him on the path of success. For instance, the IEP meeting described Jason’s current skills level, annual goals, the process of tracking his progress, how to improve his class participation, and a special education statement (Petersonspanish, 2010). Jason's English teacher suggested two mechanisms to improve his class participation and completion of his assignments. In this IEP meeting, the school principal expressed the need for Jason to start preparing for college (Petersonspanish, 2010). She commended Jason's efforts in his academics while suggesting ways to assist him in improving his exams. The IEP meeting was well involving just like any other typical meeting.
In conclusion, this meeting is a typical representation of an IEP meeting. The meeting incorporates all the components of an IEP meeting, where the current student's position, strengths, and weaknesses are identified, and goals are set to help him improve. The meeting met my expectation about an IEP meeting, although I have never attended one. I feel that the meeting was successful and set Jason on the path of success.
