Invasive species refers to any living organism either plant, fungus or any animal species that are not native to a specific location ( Trefil & Hazen 2013 ). Human activities contribute to spreading of these species. Distribution of these species beyond their normal distribution causes harm to the environment. Among threat caused by invasive species to the environment, include preying on the native species, competing with the native species for food as well as acting as a hindrance to the reproduction of the native species. However, these invasive species can cause indirect threats such as changing the food web as well as decreasing the biodiversity.

Among the worse invasive species, include the Asian carp, which are the most growing fish that compete with native fish for food. Another species is the brown Mar orated stinkbugs. To combat spreading of these species, an effective mechanism to prevent their introduction should be created. Another effective way to stop the aversion would be creating a monitoring system that will detect these species.

An example of invasive plant species is the tree- of- heaven, which grows in abandoned alleys. This tree is native to China and it was brought from China for the first time in the 1740s and later to the United States. The plant grows very first competing for sunlight with the newly developing forests. For the aquatic species, which include both animals and plant, we consider the zebra mussel whose native is the Caspian Sea. This species spread in the 19th century through the European canals spreading to many rivers and lakes. A Large population of this species has devoured game fish. Alligator weed is an aquatic plant that originated in Argentina in 1897and later spread to many parts of the world including the United States ( Trefil &Hazen 2013 ). Spreading of this weed was because of ballast tanks on sides of the traveling ships.

In conclusion, Invasive species exploit the environment they make the environment more favorable for them but less favorable for the natives, they also colonize the natives.
