The movie is about the two young activists who have taken the women’s suffrage by storm in America, putting their own lives at risk to help the women of America get their rights. Alice Paul and Lucy Burns lead in fighting for the rights of the women, who were denied the voting right ( 3C Media Solutions , 2019). The movie shows the two women pairing up with the other suffrage leaders to form a strategy that could lead women enjoying the rights to vote just like men. The two women’s strategy was to push for the constitutional amendment to guarantee women the right to vote. Later on, Paul and Burns breaks off from the NAWSA and lead other women into protests that land them in jail. The two women rights activists sacrifice their health, marriages and a limited amount of freedom to go for the rights of women. They were locked in a prison where they decided to go on hunger strike and are forced in response. As a result of their efforts; the two women rights activists managed to bear the suffering to see the fruits of their efforts. The hunger strike strategy pays off as public sympathy for the suffragists.
The part of the movie that had an impact on me is in part two where the two women, Paul and Burns are jailed and even after this, they still decide to go on a hunger strike. This courage, determination, and boldness had an impact on me as it shows how determination and effort can always lead to success. It is quite appealing to see how people can sacrifice their marriage, health, and freedom to fight for the rights of other women. That shows an act of bravery amongst women and the need to remain strong and determined to achieve a set goal. Despite their troubles in the hands of the law enforcement officers, these women put on a brave face and fought on. In the end, their struggle never went in vain because they lived to see the fruits of their work. This section affects me because it shows an act of brevity amongst women and how they can stand strong to whenever they feel that their rights are being violated.

The movie relates to American politics because it marks the days when women did not have the right to participate in the politics of the country. During these days, women did not have voting rights; thus they could not take part in the election of their political leaders. This rule denied women the right to have their voice on how their country is governed. At the same time, the women did not have the right to take part in any elective position. They were to stay purely out of politics. Such policies are what made the likeminded women such as Paul and Burns stand up and fight for the right of women. After a long battle, the women finally succeeded in getting the constitutional amendment that has them the right to take part in politics and voting rights.
I think this movie is a great historical tool that reminds of the journey that women underwent to enjoy their current freedom and rights to vote and take part in politics. It is a good reminder to the women of America on the struggle that other women went for them to live freely and enjoy the rights they currently enjoy. Therefore, the content of the movie is of great importance in the politics of the US because of the historical role it plays in connecting the long journey of freedom and rights to voting that women currently enjoy.
