METHODOLOGY: Qualitative Research

According to Creswell and Poth (2017), a qualitative research is an excellent approach to studying since it allows the researcher to play a vital role in the collection of data. The researcher will first seek the consent of the 100 respondents from the identified departments through contacting them to explain the purpose of the study and why they have been proposed to participate. Because the research hopes to recruit 100 respondents, the researcher will send 200 consent letters since it is considered that the return rate might be less than that number. After the respondents shall have returned their consent letters, the researcher will use the random sampling method to select only 100 respondents to be used in the primary methods of data collection. The 100 respondents shall only be used in the collection of data if they have an experience with the war on terrorism or that on drugs either as policy makers or as enforcement officers. This approach, therefore, implies, that even ex-servicemen will be potential respondents of the study.

I NTRODUCTION

Terrorism has turned out to be an ultimate form of an organized crime and is comprised of various criminalities and is associated with political complications. The growth of drug trade around the world is the mas groups. A relationship between drugs and terrorism clearly suggest that there is the need for a robust approach in solving the issue. Arguably, the terrorists’ organizations are often run just like an army and demand a constant supply of men, munitions and Money.

MAIN POINT 1: The drug dealers undermines popular confidence and faith in regime

In most instances, the drug dealers often are reported to undermine the popular confidence in the existing regime and act as a sovereign of the regime itself. Research has shown that such an outcome is specifically what the drug dealer’s aims to accomplish in order to abolish the official forces against their dealings.

Subpoint 1: - drug-connected killings

Typical terrorism is considered as a form of uncooked ferocity which is particularly aimed at eliminating the opponent and at the same time frightens the community to allow terrorism to go on unchallenged. Drug dealers therefore engage in random killings and abductions to only indicate form of trade market of a particular terrorist group.

MAIN POINT 1: Money to support terrorism is obtained from illegal means

Money is important f to have a functional terrorist group that would be used to buy cars, weaponries, treatment and accommodation. A huge portion of the funds that facilitate the operation of the terrorism is often obtained from various illegal means such as fraud and other various crimes. Through using fraudulent means, the terrorist groups through their agents tend to generate huge incomes which generally emphasize the fact that there is a close relationship between drugs and terrorism.

Subpoint 2: Annual fundraising campaigns

In other instances, there are those terrorist groups that have been reported to have had a fundraising campaign that are carried out each year where in most cases they charge the members of their communities a certain rate which is often based on their approximated annual income. The community’s members on the other hand are not reluctant to the extortion from the drug traffickers. Where they encourage traffickers to go on with their illegal trades provided they fund the terrorist groups through a portion of the earned profits.

MAIN POINT 1: Illegal trades in drugs majorly fund terrorism

In the contemporary society, it has been established that illegal drug trade is one of the major fundraiser of terrorism. The drug trade is the most profitable type of organized crime globally. For the terrorists, dealing in drugs is one of the easiest means for them to generate huge amount of cash they need to run their operations without being discovered by the authorities facilitated by an efficient and difficult-to-detect monetary systems of drugs trade. The trade is highly profitable such that terrorists groups have been attracted into it and have become active players. The groups are further well-organized, have a highly established manpower, the required means in addition to greater influence to undertake their personal activities or even to have in place criminals who would act on their behalf.

Subpoint 1: terrorists are not direct competitors in drug market

The main advantage of engaging in the illegal drug trade by the terrorist is that these groups do not directly compete in the drug market because they tend to have huge supplies and well spread out systems that ensure that they dominated the market.

Subpoint 2: the terrorists are often highly security conscious

The terrorists groups operating in the drug market have an extensive chain of networks that supply them with reliable security information which ensures that they are not easily arrested. As a result of their higher level of security consciousness, they have been able to leave very minimal or no space for a potential police actions to recruit the informants.

CONCLUSION

Based on this analysis, it is clear that therefore, there is a positive correlation between drugs and terrorism. Arguably, it has been shown that the growth of drug trade globally is a major threat to the stability of nations since the money earned has been used to fund militia and terrorist groups. The paper has shown that drug dealers undermine popular confidence and faith in regime. Evidently, the terrorists demand huge sum of money that would support terrorism which is obtained from illegal means. There are numerous illegal trades in drugs majorly that massively fund terrorism. It can thus be argued that with improved levels of investment into the anti-narcotics war will clearly help in fighting global terrorism.
