A Star is born an American film Staring Judy Garland, who is one of the renowned actress and singer in the United States. The Library of Congress in the United States selected the film for preservation and considered it being culturally and historically significant in the society. A star is born a musical film that features Judy Garland who is named Esther Blodgett in the case. In the film, Esther Blodgett is an aspiring singer who has the sinning talent and owns a musical band. In the film, Esther Blodgett saves a former matinee idol from public humiliation that would have affected his public image. Norman Maine the former matinee was intoxicated and attended a function at the Auditorium where he engaged with the publicist who tried to bar him from the reporters. In the engagement, he exchanged angrily and got to the stage where there was an ongoing performance. At this moment, Judy Garland who is also known as Esther Blodgett in the film engaged him to pretend that it was part of the act thus saving him from embarrassment and public humiliation (Jennings, 1979).

The film creates a social reflection concerning how individuals in the society should relate to creating an environment that supports love and care among all individuals in the community. During its time, the film was considered one of the greatest dramas in the society that was liked by a majority of individuals in the society based on the themes presented within the film. The themes presented in the film provided the audience with a wide range of entertainment that helped in keeping the views focused on the screens. The primary intention of the film is to provide entertainment is to provide entertainment to the intended audience with the nature of story depicted within the film. However, the film provides a platform for members of the society to learn and understand the importance of maintaining social cohesion by protecting and caring for other individuals in the community. The film plays a vital role in influencing the character and behaviors of the audience by illustrating the nature of the character that would promote love and care within the society.

Other than, the social reflection depicted in the film, there is an element of cultural reflection that helps the audience and the film viewers to understand the cultural values that should be upheld by members of a given society. The film describes love and care as the major elements in the cultural values that help in maintaining relations and creating a harmonious environment for the members of a given society to relate effectively. Additionally, the film portrays the characters and behaviors that are culturally unacceptable, and that results in an immediate downfall in an individual. In this case, the character of Norman results in a fast downfall thus influencing his relations with other people close to him and the society in general. In this case, the film influences the audience to uphold cultural values and focus on appropriate behaviors that help to maintain proper relations with members of the society. Also, the film helps allows viewers to understand the key factors that contribute to social cohesion and those factors that result in a breakdown of personal relations among individuals in a given society.

Actors and actress in a given film play as significant role in influencing the behaviors and attitudes of the audience towards the film. In films and movies with top actors and actresses, the audiences tend to connect with the film thus leading to increased viewership. The cast help in defining the nature of reception a film will get from the audience regardless of the message and storyline depicted within the given film. In this case, Garland who is a top actress in the United States had a significant influence in defining the success of the film in the film industry by attracting a vast audience (Clarke, 2009). Based on her ability to attract an audience in her performances as a singer, the actress helped in gaining a large number of viewers in the film who considered her as one of the most fabulous women in the acting industry. Her passion in ensuring thrilling performances to the audience helped in allowing the audience to connect with the storyline of the film in a bid to create an understanding of the critical issues depicted within the film.

Garland was an essential character in the film because of her ability to attract a vast crowd. Additionally, the talented singer can connect with the audience thus creating a platform for the audience to understand the message intended within the film (Shipman, 1994). The actor and film overcome the communication barrier that lacks in a majority of the films in trying to connect with the audience. In this case, the actor and the film were able to top connect to the audience and create a reflection on the intended purpose that depicted the social and cultural reflection in the society.
