Language is a phenomenon that emerges from the interaction between human minds; a matter that can be observed by the unstoppable change in language (Pinker, 2005). This, therefore, implies that it plays a significant role in the course of human conception. There has, however, been a question on whether the language people speak merely offers a window into human cognition or it actually affects the way people perceive and understand the world. This analysis will seek to offer further insight into the issue.
According to Whorf, the Native Language within the United States offer speakers some form of realism that differs from contemporary form of thought (Deutscher, 2010). People, hence, perceive things differently because of the languages that they use. Despite making such claims in a scientific magazine dated 1940, it later emerged that his suppositions did not have a substantial basis. Apparently, he made a grave mistake by assuming that a person`s mother tongue prevents them from thinking in a certain way (Deutscher, 2010).

Keith Chen a behavioral economist, intimates that some of the futuristic language speakers have some of the best saving behaviors in the modern world. This means that language does indeed have an impact on the savings culture of individuals and, therefore, affects the way people perceive things. Futuristic language speakers have a 30% chance of saving within any given year (Chen, 2012). Also, the same individuals are less likely to smoke since they perceive the idea of current pleasure leading to future pain. Besides, there is a 13-17% chance that such individuals will not end up being obese (Chen, 2012). This can, therefore, explain why some people engage in behaviors that other cultures tend to avoid.
Many theorists agree that language is procedurally acquired and developed within the course of human existence. At 10 years of age, many individuals become actively skilled in the utilization of various skilled pertaining to some natural form of language ( Kuo & Anderson, 2010) . A factor that further shows the kind of impact that a person`s maternal or native language can have on their ability to make certain decisions. There is, therefore, no doubt that language affects the way people perceive and understand the world.
