To make a good teacher, one has to be more than a certificate holder; it calls for ethical codes and law abiding. Teaching as a profession is very fulfilling because the teacher is vital to each functional citizen in this world. Teachers are the medium through which students are inspired into competency, gain virtues, and even acquiring morals as individuals. Knowledge in various aspects is the scope to which teachers involve students. There are plenty of reasons that may lead a person to pursue teaching as a profession, which might be the love for children, the enthusiasm associated with learning, the passion for teaching, or simply by circumstance. I would, however, like to state my case on how important having ethical considerations in this line of work is. What I have learned is discussed in this essay thread. But most importantly, I have learned that having ethics is all about having good relationships with all the people you come into contact with at the workplace, those you work with, and those you do not.

As ethics are a morality code that governs a person in their course of actions, from the video, I’d deduct that having ethics is as important in the teaching profession as any other. The case of Marilyn and Connie is particularly striking because she was amidst the dilemma of applying her ethics and facing her boss about not wanting to be part of it (Beach, 2017., p. 10). She, therefore, has to apply her code of ethics in seeing to it that she delivers her message right. She could use skills like reasoning, which allows her understanding to rule, interpersonal skills that enable the delivery of the right words, and the courage to speak and act it out. Marilyn, therefore, is faced with a situation that requires critical thinking aspects of having to find a medium to relay her most profound concern.

The case of Alan, who is a sporty kid in the sixth grade, is the case that would considerably be of significance to me in the video. This case would require handling in the delicate manner it is. I would not be in a rush to harass the child because there is the reason guiding me and yet would apprehend him to the principal only to get more harassment for a situation that is easy to diffuse. The first thing is to exercise the legal aspect concerning academic freedom (Beach, 2017., p. 10). Academic freedom allows a teacher to choose whichever ways and methodologies to act in the profession to aid in it. Applying inquiry with an open spirit is something I’d with the kid and using the moral compass, isolate him to talk with him. Ensuring that he understands the effects of drugs and that they do not affect him, in the long run, are the most critical aspects of the situation to me (New legal issues facing school principals and teachers in 2017, pp. 104-156). That is because the problem might be able to suffice for the moment but still live on to have a recurrent effect in the life ahead for the kid, Alan. This situation is of considerable importance because its effects stretch out more than the present time.

From the presentation on Religion in the Public Schools, the “SCRIP presentation,” there were a few things to discover from the Reading and Study materials. The first is that there are five areas of conflict that are common by teachers and students in this field of profession, these are; Facility Usage, Parental Rights, Prayer Issues, Students’ Rights, and Teacher’s Rights (McAlister & Thompson, 2016. pp. 1-32). The disposition of my choice the SCRIP presentation of the Teachers’ Rights. Rights and freedoms guide teachers at a public school. Teachers at a public school can participate in any other conversation or speech with other people both within and without the school. The teacher may also not edge on one side of religion talks in a classroom and overhaul the other; the teacher should be objective on such matters and remain neutral because a school is a haven for ideas and should remain open-minded. A teacher, therefore, plays an essential role in ensuring that religion is not the cause of negligence and division in their classroom or school at large.

The Bible is an essential reference point for situations that require insights as it dates back to long times ago. In the Bible, the book of 1st Samuel 2: 22-31 (King James Version, 2021), there is the story of Eli, who was a Priest and he had two sons; Hophni and Phinehas. He, however, did not teach his children to obey the place of worship and other people, resulting in them doing wrong before God’s eyes all over Israel. In exercising my Rights as a Teacher, as I may sponsor Bible Clubs and any other similar clubs, I would give the students straightforward counsel and advice on what to expect from them and more on other necessary matters (McAlister & Thompson, 2016., pp. 1-32). That is in the case where I might find myself in such a situation—for a teacher, leading the students into a clear path from the blame of any avoidable and unpleasant circumstance that is key.

Teachers are responsible for teaching more than what is in the books and knowledge. They have to ensure that their students end up being functional members of society by equipping them with skills and knowledge from every end. Just as conducting lessons is essential, so is conducting oneself to agree with the ethics and legal bindings. A teacher can show more by leading by example and having a moral code that does not contradict her purpose.
