Dear Motion Picture Arts Admissions,
This letter seeks to express my interest in film school.
I had always possessed an affinity for movies, but never considered anything beyond hours of movie analysis with my mother. All that has amazed me from a tender age is how a movie brings one into a different world, only to put you back to reality, but this time armed with new knowledge or even feeling happy and entertained. Though I have always loved watching movies, never have I imagined myself being involved in their making, until four years ago.
When I graduated from high school, my parents took me for a movie night at IMAX. It was an incredibly boring evening and we had been idle for the better part of the day. I do not recall anything else about that evening – the cost of the ticket, what we ate, or even exactly whether the theatre was packed or not. However, I distinctly remember the feeling of wanting to know-how. How did the screenwriters and directors come up with such a thrilling movie?
Delegate your assignment to our experts and they will do the rest.
It is for this reason I am thrilled to apply for admission at your institution to learn how to be a film director. Not only does your mission of nurturing individual creative voices and independent thinking spark my curiosity to become a film director, but it also reminds me of the bigger picture; that through creative collaboration I can be successful in the moving image profession or as a screenwriter.
Over the last four years, I have been reading about prolific film directors and screenwriters in the film industry. Among the many impressive professionals, Ryan Coogler inspired me the most. At just 31, Ryan Coogler has directed not only a record-breaking blockbuster but also a historic film. For years Black Panther will be studied by scholars and pop culture alike. Coogler though is not the only director that has left a mark in the film industry. Film directors such as David Lynch, Martin Scorsese, and Errol Morris among others have been an inspiration. Their success has propelled me to constantly envision a career in film production.
While in high school, I majored in applied arts, history, creative writing, public speaking, sociology, and theatre arts. I wanted to be self-sufficient at doing things. Besides, I enjoyed gaining hands-on-experience and critically thinking about ideas that affect modern society. Last summer, I took it upon myself to create short content videos and films. Although I do not have a vast array of experience, I believe my interest and willingness to work hard will bring me success in the motion picture profession.
These interests of mine, albeit evidently distinct, share a defining characteristic that I am committed to engaging in film directing at your esteemed institution. During my time at the college, I intend on proper time management to achieve my career goals. In addition, I intend to be actively involved in activities of the Film Club such as shooting small video and film projects, revising for exams, and helping the community around.
Given a chance, I would like to hone my capabilities to become a prolific film director or screenwriter- one who exudes confidence, creativity and commitment at what I do. I feel pursuing a career in the film industry is not a decision that was made for me by just anyone-but who I want to be in the future. I want to thank you for the open house tour earlier on and would like to request that you consider me to join your team of creatives. I look forward to hearing from you.
Sincerely
Student.
