Both Nurses and Nurse Educators should constantly embrace a broader paradigm of scholarship, to enhance the grasp and expansion of a broader perspective of both nursing as a science and nursing as an academic role. The more individuals are in quest of knowledge, the more they are stimulated to and challenged to develop an understanding of a particular practice further. Since knowledge is generated through research, the aim is to enhance the objective of developing a fast-forward thinking in the fields of science more synergistically as compared to the past ( Adegbola, 2018 ). Therefore, Nurse and Nurse Educator should actively participate in scholarships and services to enhance research in the field through acquisition of knowledge, a further distinction of the two analyzed.
The mandate of the American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN’s) is geared towards emphasizing the need for Scholarships in the Discipline of Nursing. Nurse educational programs have continually been evaluated to ensure that the next generation of nurses is well prepared to meet the healthcare needs of the public ( Peterson, & Stevens, 2018 ). The consideration is because of the need for high-quality education in an increasingly complex and challenging environment, which insists on research, practice, teaching, and service as matters of significance. Nursing scholarships relate to the need to build a high-quality, safe, high-value healthcare system as the core mandate of all health professionals. In this regard, the need for academic and clinical partnerships has increased, thus, resulting in the demand for doctoral education and advance in the field and practice of nursing scholarships.

Based on the AACN, the scholarship for the discipline of nursing is categorizes into four dimensions, that is, emphasis on research discovery, scholarship of teaching, integration, and that of application. So members will be subjected to a rigorous body of scholarly products and professional reviews over some time to attain the position of Associate Professor. A nurse, who has attained the Associate professor title, has an additional responsibility to maintain standards associated with clinical practice essential for the profession. On the other hand, Nurse Educator, will focus on their additional responsibility of producing additional scholarships, and maintaining the objective of providing expert teaching services in colleges, the profession of nursing, and the overall community (American Association of Colleges of Nursing, 2019).
Therefore to foster scholarship and service programs to enhance practice, nurse academician’s clinical practice offers a multidimensional approach that encourages review and promotion of academic and health care set-ups to enhance the contemporary practice of the nursing profession.
