Lifespan refers to the period of a time a human being or an animal lives. With this, it starts with infancy, childhood, adolescence, adulthood, and death. It involves natural uncontrollable age-related changes throughout a person's life. Adolescence is the stage that transitions growth and development from childhood to adulthood. This takes place between the age of 11 and 19. Based on different nature, some may experience adolescence early and others late. Puberty marks the beginning of adolescence and is based on seeking own identity and independence. Puberty is marked with physical, psychological, social and moral changes. Changes occurring to a person at puberty are natural and expected but it is important for adolescents to understand the changes taking place and embrace them. 

Social development refers to the interaction between adolescents and other people, adolescents become closer to their peers than family. They develop deviant behavior of wanting control, isolation from adults as they are escaping from meaningful authority. Emotional development refers to mental experience due to a lot of mental activity, teenagers tend to be very emotional, express feelings and form close friendships especially with opposite gender. They pay less attention to adults as they start to identify their faults, and develop new interests and clothing styles. Physical development refers to the changes in body structures in terms of growth and development. Boys tend to break their voice, testicles grow bigger, hair grows around public areas, the face, chin and armpits, and shoulders broaden. Girls break their voice and breasts start to grow, menstruation periods happen and hair grows in the armpits and pubic area. Cognitive development is progressive thinking from childlike thinking to having adulthood thoughts. Adolescents develop advanced logical thinking, problem-solving thinking, develop imagery audience.
