Activity 1
Identifying Letters and Colors
Action question: Can the children match the letters and colors to those of their tutor?
The first exercise will require the children to match the letters with those of their tutor without necessarily matching the colors. In that case, the teacher will stand in front of the class, pick a letter and show it to the learners, who are expected to also pick a letter that, is similar. The tutor can also walk in the classroom with the letter, and in case the children cannot identify it, he can help them pick it. That would be effective because of the instant feedback. The second test would be identifying letters with colors that match with those of the tutor. Here, the exercise is two-fold; the tutor can begin by requesting learners to pick any letter that has a color similar to that of his letter. Secondly, the learners are expected to pick specific letters that have specific colors. For example, when the tutor picks letter “M” that is yellow in color, the learners are also expected to pick letters that have the same specifications. This exercise is meant to test the learners’ observation skills.
Activity 2
Correct Pronunciation of Letters and Colors
Action question: Can the learners correctly identify and pronounce letters and names of colors?
The tutor will pick letters, preferably in alphabetical order, and require learners to do the same. The tutor will then pronounce the name of the letter and request the children to repeat the pronunciation. Afterward, the tutor will pronounce the names of the different colors. To test the comprehension of the learners, the teacher will mention specifications of letters and request the learners to identify them. For example, the tutor can instruct the learners to “identify letter M with a yellow color”
