The leadership in Chicago led by Mayor Lori Lightfoot has had its wins and shortfalls since she was elected in 2019. Chicago City government is divided into legislative and executive branches, which conduct oversight of the city operations and activities (“ Office of The Mayor," 2021 ). Under her leadership, Lori Lightfoot, the city of Chicago, is already witnessing a mayor who is collateral; she is a reputable chief executive who appoints commissioners without favoritism, thus contributing to a strong local government structure to serving the citizens of Chicago. Her unbiased selection of commissioners has positively impacted every department as skillful and qualified people are selected to lead the departments. There is effective and transparent coordination between the Mayor and other citywide elected officials like City Clerk and the treasurer; they work together to perfect local government operations.
The strong local government structure has resulted in an improved working environment for other governing bodies like the police department, schools, transportation, and water sector. Being legislative branch, the Chicago City council provides a holistic and visionary approach to every issue affecting the aforementioned governing agencies ( Bosman, 2019 ). For instance, the police department is bestowed with powers and resources to ensure law and order at every corner of the city. Schools are equipped with skillful and experienced educators for provisionary education to be delivered to students.

Fire and water departments are equipped with recent technology; this ensures efficiency of operations and quality customer service delivery. I am a beneficiary of services offered by the governing agencies mentioned above severally. The fire department came to our rescue sometime when one of our houses caught fire. Additionally, the water department supplies water to our homestead for domestic uses and irrigation purposes. Lastly, I am an active traveler hence a beneficiary of the transport services offered, including technological advancements. In conclusion, good leadership and coordination between the Chicago Mayor and other legislative agencies have substantially contributed to effective service delivery to the people.
