The emergence of the SARS Covid has taken a toll on the human population. It was widely perceived only to affect the older population. Recent reports have seen young people also contracting the disease and dying. Scientists have placed Epigenetics, which is the influence of one gene and the environment, to determine one's predisposition to the disease, at the center of the impact of Covid in adult development. To find out whether genes and the environment increase the risk of contracting the disease and its severity due to it (Crump, 2021). Several studies have linked specific genes, behaviors, and regions to be prone to the disease's severity. This paper will try to ascertain the role of genes and the environment as contributing factors in the spread and severity of Covid. The research methods used to study this population include Correlation designs, qualitative designs, quasi longitudinal studies, and surveys. And the effects of such research methods.

Covid has brought a toll on the human population over the world. One year down the line, the effects of Covid are still present in our lives. Scientists have been working around the clock to find a cure and better understand the virus and answer some critical questions such as the relationship between genes and Covid and how the environment influences the severity of the disease.

To find the answers to these questions, scientists have used research methods such as correlation designs. The correlation designs try to show the relations between the two variables, which are genes and the severity of Covid. The study took into account that the gene cluster's presence on chromosome 3 presented a risk in the progression of the disease. The gene inherent from Neardathalts and found in half of Asia and European populations shows why death rates were high amongst them (Zuberg & Paabo, 2020). Though correlation designs cannot ascertain relations, scientists have tried to incorporate other research methods to demonstrate this phenomenon. The study of genes is an added advantage because it will bring the researcher close to finding a vaccine and cure.

The second type of research method is the qualitative design. This involves the use of case studies, observing the participants, and analysis of data. To show how lifestyle behaviors such as poor diet, smoking, obesity influenced the occurrence of Covid, the case study was conducted on patients who had tested positive for Covid from Wuhan. Majority of the people who didn't sleep well and had low physical activity reported to have had severe cases of Covid. From the analysis of the data collected from this case study, it was observed that lifestyle behavior influenced the occurrence of covid (Gao et al., 2020). From the study, we can conclude that a poor lifestyle contributed to the reoccurrence of Covid in individuals.

Quasi-experiment was conducted in Europe to ascertain the effectiveness of non-pharmaceutical methods in controlling the spread of Covid. After the implementation of social distancing, closure of schools, the prohibition of mass gatherings, and closure of borders tacts, the researcher also analyzed the daily death reports from the Daily post figures by the European Centre for Disease Control and dates of initiation of various control strategies from the Institute of Health Metrics and Evaluation website and published sources. The research found that restricting human movement and socialization significantly reduced death rates due to Covid (Hunter et al., 2020).

To find out how Covid has affected the human population, online surveys have been conducted. For instance, it's a survey conducted by the eight English-speaking nations by Sapiens Labs. The participants are required to fill an online assessment tool or the Mental Health quotient. Through the assessment tool, one can assess the mental well-being and cognitive function through the score—the participants recruited through online advertising on social media platforms. The results showed that the number of clinical mental health cases was on the rise. The claims rose from 14% in 2009 to 26% in 2020 (Yasgur, 2021). The survey was also said to provide more comprehensive data about the population, which would enable the stakeholder to make an informed decision

The above methods of research can be valuable tools for the stakeholders in terms of making well-informed decisions. The research methods provide them with information on those at risk, which are the adults. Additionally, they can know how to make legislation such as having comprehensive health care available to all the population. Focus is thus not only on the physical effects but also on the mental health of the people. Therefore, ensuring full recovery for the patients and the families affected or infected by Covid.
