Describing Managers’ Responsibilities within an Organization 

Managers perform various responsibilities within an organization, while the three management roles guide their operations. Firstly, the interpersonal role revolves around the figurehead, leader, and liaison. As a figurehead, the manager has social, legal, and ceremonial duties. The manager needs to serve as an inspirational source, because individuals look up to managers as individuals with authority. When acting as a leader, the managers lead their teams, departments, and their overall organizations. They are responsible for managing performance together with the responsibilities of all individuals in the group (Stimpson & Joyce, 2013) . As a liaison, the managers need to communicate with the external and internal contacts to allow them network in an effective manner on behalf of the company.

The informational role of managers revolves around being a monitor, disseminator, and spokesperson. The roles in this case entail processing information. For the monitoring role, the manager seeks information affiliated with the industry and company on a regular basis, while searching for relevant environmental changes in line with monitoring team members in terms of their wellbeing and productivity. The disseminator role allows managers to communicate vital information to the team members and colleagues. For the spokesperson role, the managers are responsible for representing as well as speaking for their company (Gaiya & Mkponkeabasi, 2018) . In this role, they are endowed with the duty of transmitting information concerning the organization as well as the goals in anticipates to realize to the outside world.

When it comes to the decisional role, it targets areas including entrepreneur, disturbance handler, resource allocator, and negotiator. The roles in this case entail using information. The entrepreneur role allows managers to develop and regulate changes inside an organization by addressing problems, instituting new ideas, and deploying them. As a disturbance handler, the manager takes charge whenever the team or the organization hits an unanticipated roadblock, while mediating any disputes that emerge (Gaiya & Mkponkeabasi, 2018) . In being a resource allocator, the manager is responsible for determining where to apply the resources of an organization best, such as allocating funding or assigning other resources of an organization (Stimpson & Joyce, 2013) . When serving as a negotiator, the manager is involved in processes, such as participating and directing vital negotiations inside an organization, department, or among team members.

Comparing and Contrasting three Management Categories 

The managerial roles comprise of interpersonal, informational, and decisional. The interpersonal roles involve interactions with individuals both inside and outside an organization. The informational roles entail giving, receiving, and assessing information. The decisional roles require utilizing information to facilitate in addressing problems, make decisions, and leverage on opportunities. While it is possible to utilize all these roles one time or together with the four management functions, most of them are utilized in undertaking particular managerial functions. For instance, the entrepreneurial role relates to the planning function of management (Birkinshaw & Mark, 2015) . Regarding this role, an organization’s direction is set. The disseminator, liaison, and resource allocator duties match closely with the organizing function, whereas the spokesperson, leader, and figurehead rhyme closely with leading, whereas the monitor role closely matches the controlling function. In this perspective, therefore, the similarities that prevail between the three managerial roles revolve around making sure that all organizational functions are handled effectively (Mintzberg, 2013) . However, they also present various differences, particularly because each role requires certain expertise to ensure that managers carry them in an effective manner.

Need for Managers to Play Various Roles 

Managers need to play distinct roles in order for them to emerge effective in their duties. For instance, organizations feature hierarchies of titles, while a company’s structure reveals the relationships with responsibilities and jobs, while each senior person plays unique roles, which make it possible for an organization to realize its goals as well as gain profitability (Birkinshaw & Mark, 2015) . While performing their different duties, the managers are able to focus on issues related to strategy, overall coordination, investment, and offering internal support within the organization. Furthermore, managers serve as bridges between senior managers, while their major role entails translating higher-level goals as well as strategies to plans that allow an organization realize increased growth (Stimpson & Joyce, 2013) . By performing the different roles, therefore, the managers are able to make sure that their organizations operate in an efficiently while at the same time dealing with any weaknesses that might prevail in organizational functions. 

Four Management Functions 

The four major functions that managers undertake comprise of planning, organizing, leading, and controlling. The planning functions entails looking ahead. Having a good action plan serves as the most challenging function for managers. They require overall organizational participation. While considering time as well as implementation, planning needs coordination in distinct levels. Planning needs to utilize the available resources of an organization as well as personnel’s flexibility in order to assure continuity. The organizing function allows an organization to operate in an effective manner when well organized. It should have sufficient staff, capital, and raw materials to allow it to operate in a smooth manner. Organizational structure that divides tasks and functions effectively allows a company to succeed (Gaiya & Mkponkeabasi, 2018) . Even while functions increase, a company is able to expand both vertically and horizontally, although a distinct leadership type is needed in this case. 

When it comes to the leading function, the managers give instructions to ensure that the workforce understands what it needed. It becomes possible to optimize returns from employees when they are offered solid instructions regarding the activities that they need to undertake. Successful managers portray traits, such as integrity, clear communication, which allow them to motivate their trams. In the event of the controlling function, it entails substantiating that all activities within a company follow the set plan. In this manner, the organization understands whether the activities being undertaken rhyme with the set plan (Gaiya & Mkponkeabasi, 2018) . The controlling function requires establishing standards of performance, measuring and reporting real performance, comparing performance with results, and taking the required corrective actions. 

Example of Experience 

An example of an experience that I encountered with the four functions of management is prevailed when I was working at Walmart. Planning refers defining acts attributed to making decisions concerning activities and goals for a company. Any organization needs a plan to guide its actions together with other achievements. Plans offer a basis for directing and coordinating organizational activities to facilitate in realization of goals. In the event of Walmart, the leaders and managers work on a daily basis to allow them plan for the different functions that the organization will pursue. The concept of organizing entails coordinating and assembling money, individuals, information, and physical attributes that companies require attaining goals (Abou-bakr, 2013) . Failure to have sufficient organization leads organizations to fail. Walmart emphasizes on attracting associates to its operations as well as customers due to its need for realizing success. 

In the event of the leading function, it mostly emphasizing on stimulation. Good leaders need to have the capacity of motivating and communicating with the workforce. For the human resource associates at Walmart, the organization classifies them as organizational leaders. Regarding the controlling function, it targets monitoring performance while at the same time instituting changes vital for the success of an organization (Abou-bakr, 2013) . In the case of Walmart, the management of the organization embarks on a controlling function, since the major role they play entail organizing, planning, controlling, and leading the different organizational activities to ensure that it is capable of reaching its goals.
