The process of managing a project involves managing changes as one of the factors that would impact on the whole project. In many projects, changes are part of the process; it is the responsibility of the project manager to follow the right procedure when handling a change. Being in advertising agency, the project at hand is on Coffee Beverage advert. However, in the midst of preparing the advert, the client requested that more content should be added on the advert. As the lead project manager, it is wise to follow the right procedure upon receiving a change request. The process is discussed as follows; first a letter requesting for the change will be received from the client, the letter should contain the original contract regarding the whole advert preparation and the content to be changed. Secondly the project will be at standstill so as to update the change log. Thirdly, the lead manager will assess the change and come into agreement with the client. Fourthly, the lead project manager will decide on the course of action (Whyte, Stasis & Lindkvist, 2016) .
It is the decision of the lead manager to proceed with the change or not to change at all. This will depend on the damage the change will have on the projects as well as the time to complete the whole project. However, there some cases where the change could be necessary and hence the project manager would come to agreement with the client. In some cases, the change request can result to conflict among the team members; this is a situation that requires the lead manager to handle with professionalism by biding to the ethics of project management. In this case, communication is essential in handling conflicts during project management. However, there are some changes in the project that could lead to adverse impact to the team members, serious consultation should be considered so as to make a decision on whether to accept or reject the change request.
