For children, crying gives them a chance to display their most sincere and hard emotions related to pain, fear, or discomfort (Brownell & Kopp, 2010). Emotionally sensitive children cry every time they are disturbed. Since they are unable to respond physically, the act of crying would have been an action like a kick or a fight. Damien is experiencing internal pain arising from Manuel’s action of snatching his shovel. Sadly, Manuel is not concerned about his feelings. Likewise, Damien is only wanted Manuel to bring back the shovel.

Managing such children requires attention and more understanding of the kids. It is important to let Manuel know that crying is an indication that he has done something that is not right and hence it is making Damien cry. Approaching Damien and consoling him, with something else would be a way to go now. Moreover, Damien needs to be made to appreciate the fact that Manuel can bring back the shovel and be okay.

Various strategies can be adopted to ensure that the crying or getting bitter can be reduced. Damien needs to be told that it is possible not to cry over everything. It is possible to approach an older person and let him or her know the mistake of Manuel before crying (Palermo, & Law, 2015). Likewise, it is important to let Manuel know that it is not right to snatch someone’s item without due consent. Therefore, they should be informed that they are children and should learn to borrow from their friends or colleagues whenever they need something. When done continually, it will reach a time when no one will be affected directly whenever something like this happens. In fact, such an occurrence will be less likely to happen.
