Leaders of organizations face many difficulties in changing the organization’s culture. An organization’s culture is comprised of elements such as an interlocking set of goals, roles, values, attitudes amongst others which fit together very well and thus making any attempt of change cumbersome(Alvesson,2015). Therefore, the order in which the change is brought in an organization is vital considering that the change must portray a likelihood of success. In the case of Delta Pacific Company, the change was necessary but however, the implementation process was not perfect. They failed because they brought in the change before setting a plan for the change. They would have done this by inducting the employees to their upcoming new roles right before implementing the change. Therefore, it’s important for any leader to set a plan for a change before the change actually occurs. This will enable you to weigh options and also increase the probability of success.
As an organization leader, I would employ the following steps of implementing change. One is that I would ensure that the management of the organization fully supports the change for this will make the employees develop a comfort level thus making them fully comfortable with the change. Second, I would make sure that there is a case as to why we making the change. Thirdly, organization change regardless of how small or big it needs the input of employees, therefore, I would involve them in all my change efforts. To add on, I will also communicate the change to my employees but not letting get the news via rumors for this might cause resistance to change(Alvesson,2015). Besides, I would ensure that the planned change is put into implementation. I will achieve this by making a timeline of the implementation and will also make the changes in the order of its impact on the process. As a leader, I will make a follow up after implementation to see if the desired results were achieved and if not I change the strategy. Removing barriers that may hinder proper implementation should be checked. Lastly, as a good leader, I would make sure that the entire organization celebrates the fruits of the change.
