Political parties
A political party is a family or a group of people who have come together with common political opinions and ambitions or goals. Political parties have an essential role in government. They join people to gain command of the leadership in government. Their work is to come up with policies that are favorable to the people who support them. To overcome the flaws that come with the vesting of the executive, legislative, and judiciary powers of leadership in different bodies, political parties may act as a mediating institution. This will allow the people who vote to hold the President liable for a specific political platform. The concept is that political parties will be able to conquer the separation of powers by joining formal arrangements under informal ones. It is noted that initially, political parties used to play a more mediating role than they do today and that it was an important thing.
Interest groups
These are groups of people who look to affect public policy because they have a common concern or interest. Members form these for representation, which can also mean mediating between the member and the government or another body in authority. They serve as supervisors supervising what institutions like courts, Congress, and administrations are doing to protect the interests of their constituents. They are interested in expanding and maintaining their membership. They can act as mediators to protect their constituents from government oppression. These groups can also come in between an employer and employee situations. That is if the interest of the groups is to protect its members from mistreatment in work environments, they can come in and offer legal services to its members and therefore will act as an intermediary between the two. These interest groups also educate their constituents and the public as a whole. They ensure every member and the public are kept up to date on matters concerning their daily lives.

Lobbying
Lobbying is when a person asks an official that has been elected or a primary decision maker to take a particular stand or vote in a specific way on a section of law enactment. To win or get a person’s idea into practice, one will need a particular person in power to act as their mediator. It is an essential process because, without it, the government would find it difficult to solve many of its citizens need. It allows governments to access legislators. It also acts as a tool for education and allows the interests of individuals to achieve power in numbers.
The media
Media is supposed to reach out to address and reach out to a broad audience or group. The media today plays a role in mediating, shaping, and creation of strength and public opinion in society. It is what makes democracy stronger in a particular country. It supervises the government on behalf of the people to stop it from misappropriation of public resources by creating public awareness. It acts as a mediator by embracing its role of working against the oppression, injustices, partiality of the society, and misdeeds of corrupted officials in government.
Self-reflection
In this chapter, I have learned about how political parties, interest groups, lobbying, and the media are essential in protecting citizens lives. Political parties that have the interest of their supporters at heart will mediate and make sure that the government implements every need of their people. Interest groups also act by protecting their constituents from getting misused by the people in authority by acting as an intermediary. I have also learned that lobbying is a constitutional process that allows a citizen to convince an influential person to pass their motion to the government. I have also learned how the media is an essential source of information about current matters concerning how the government hands public resources.
