Figurative language is one of the essential elements in communication since it thrives in connecting two ideas to influencing the audience. Some of the figurative languages that assist me in communication and speech are metaphors, personification, and hyperbole. Among the many figurative languages, these three facilitates in deep thinking, which allows one to come up and develop a speech that creates a connection with the audience. Metaphors in language facilitate comparison of two different things without necessarily using words such as ‘as’ or ‘like.’ It is a technique that helps in deeper thinking of something in different ways. One of the essential aspects of metaphor is that it contributes to cultural representation by making things look more prominent. Personification indulges in giving non- human things traits (“Figurative Language,” 2020). Doing this makes speeches and presentations more vivid through the expression of feelings and emotions. Hyperbole involves exaggeration that adds amusing effects in the languages.
It helps in bringing more meaning to the ideas, thoughts, and finally introduces a humorous impact. The three figurative languages have proven to add more emphasis and understanding when one is giving a speech. With this, I find it essential to implement them in my daily conversation to enhance my skills in presentations. I will outline each with examples to ensure that I do not confuse them. Besides, I will conduct a thorough study to ensure that I fully understand how to use them to achieve the intended goals for each. I will ensure that I make use of these figurative languages so that I can be fluent in making speeches. As a way to enhance my speech, I will also review addresses from prominent masters of languages and put down essential elements that reflect their statements. In this, I will introduce those aspects of language to own so that it can boost my presentations. Lastly, I will ensure that the figurative language that I choose to use will help in conveying the right message as well as the mood.
