Task 1
Crafting an online persona is not a simple task; there is a lot to consider. How people use social media, ranging from their contents to how they react to feeds, should reflect their personal values, professional skills, and interests. In some instances, how a person conducts themselves online is as important as how they behave offline unless they wish to remain anonymous online for whatever interests. I am interested in technology and tech stuff, including smartphones, laptops, smartwatches, and other devices. Therefore, my online persona should reflect my passion for trending technologies. I choose the persona because it will also allow me to exhibit my expertise in sharing tech content online. It will allow me to share contents that will educate, insight, and entertain my audience.
Task 3
After signing up and creating my profile, I followed popular accounts using tech as a theme. Some of the accounts I followed include renowned tech reviewers like Marques Brownlee, Arun Maini, Sara Dietshy, Linus, and Judner Aura. I noticed that these accounts share some elements. First, they all have an optimized profile. Their profiles are clean, friendly, and attractive to followers. For instance, Marques Brownlee's profile consists of a simple and yet detailed picture of him, his tech-themed brand logo as a background theme, a bio that briefly describes what he does, and a link that directs a user to his YouTube channel. The profile also offers a taste of the user's personality.

In addition to creating an inviting profile, these accounts post more visual content. Tweets that contain visual contents (gifs, photos, videos) receive more engagement in terms of replies, retweets, and likes. Since most of them are tech reviewers, they post about trending technologies. For instance, their timelines are full of popular techs like the iPhone 12, Xbox, Play Station 5, and the likes. These accounts leverage visual content to attract more following, especially people interested in tech content. I also plan on using a similar strategy to draw a following.
The pattern of posting also differs. One would expect tech reviewers like Arun Maini to post often, but this is not always the case. A majority of the popular accounts I followed do not post stuff frequently. A typical account averages four tweets a day. However, the timing of their posts is excellent. They have mastered the skill of timing their tweets to gain maximum engagement. Research shows posting during weekdays in the early or late afternoons draws full engagement. During such times, the vast majority of people are online; therefore, it is easier to receive more reaction and obtain new followers. That being so, I also plan to take advantage of the art of timing to grow my online brand.
Learning from these accounts' success, I plan to adopt similar strategies and tools to grow my platform. For instance, I will harness trending hashtags. Since tweets with hashtags receive more engagement, I think of them as SEO of tweeter. They will be useful at the beginning phase of my online journey. Tools like TweetDeck and Hootsuite are designed to enable the optimization of online activities. I will use TweetDeck, a free tool that combines Twitter specialization with powerful reporting to optimize Twitter presence. It is a good social media manager for a starting profile that seeks to specialize in a particular field.
