The Process of Mindfulness

Mindfulness is a product of the mental and neurological processes. These processes are determined and influenced by emotions, psychological reactions, and behavior. It is the ability to exercise self-awareness and a non-judgmental attitude towards environmental stimuli. Glomb et al. (2011) postulate that mindfulness occurs due to three core processes and seven other peripheral processes. These three core processes are a combination of two mental processes and one neurological process.

The first mental process is the perception of one's emotions, thoughts, and previous experiences. It is essential as it creates a distance between the employee and their feelings. Secondly, employees reduce automation in the mental process. The vitality of the reduction in automation is to ensure a psychological deficit is created in the brain, allowing quick and effective responses (Malinowski & Lim, 2015). The employees of Booz Allen Hamilton can develop thoughts without judgmental awareness.

The third core process involves psych ological systems. In this process, the neurobiological provisions enable the body to regulate emotions by increasing its awareness psychologically. The body coordinates the three core processes and integrates them to establish a balance in the body's response systems (Malinowski & Lim, 2015). The peripheral processes are initiated by the completion of the three core processes. These secondary processes are; empathy, affection, flexible response, limited rumination, higher self-determination, upsurge in-memory working rate, and precise, useful forecasts. The secondary processes are integrated and supported by the core processed to realize mindfulness.

It can be classified as either task performance or contextual performance based on the technical view, organizational culture, and strategic vision. Mindfulness and performance can be attributed to self-regulation, which is responsible for altering impulses and responses to behavior (Rupprecht & Walach, 2016). It provides a basis for determining the effectiveness of the employees and the efficiency of business activities. Self-regulation enables employees to modify their internal emotions and project intelligent, purposeful emotions. Emotional intelligence provides a mechanism to interact with thoughts, feelings, and attentional responses with a business-appropriate touch.
