Hello and thanks, professor and classmates, for finding time to listen to me. My name is Stewart Jenkins*, and I am here to talk to you about multicultural issues. A wiser man in the Habsburg monarchy than me uttered the words “Live and Let Live.” He did so because of realizing the numerous challenges that arise from cultural differences in the areas of religion, ethnicity, and race, among others.
Racial hostility is a fact that emerges in the most unexpected ways, necessitating a deep, even underlying sense of cultural identity for therapeutic existence. Ethnicity, race, and culture are important aspects that one should understand before going to counseling; they influence counseling greatly. The three constructs dictate the diagnosis of various mental illnesses as certain illnesses such as schizophrenia are related to a particular ethnic group. For instance, if a counselor lacks understanding of these issues, some clients will feel disrespect and disvalued according to the services rendered. Black people express their dissatisfaction with medical professionals who do not put cultural diversity while offering their services as opposed to the western people who are in a way satisfied with the lack of cultural diversity in service delivery.
Delegate your assignment to our experts and they will do the rest.
How do we strike a balance here then? To achieve a good therapeutic outcome, both the counselor and the client must consider diversity issues in therapy practice. Counselors must also transcend personal beliefs or opinions on all facets of diversity, as this can have a detrimental effect on the professional advice they offer. Due to technological advancements, the internet has become the primary source of information and a platform on which people worldwide can interact.
I believe that multicultural physiology is an aspect that puts all the differences into consideration in its operation. Through the internet, cross-cultural and transnational people can interact and learn about each other’s cultures. Through the interactions, some people have been pleased by other cultures, which hassled to assimilation. People have adapted to other ways of living and lost their culture completely. I feel that the internet has brought cultural information from all over the world closer to people making people more knowledgeable and arising new art of expression. When people are assimilated and migrate to other cultures, they may experience anxiety, leading to mental conditions and other illnesses. Among the assimilated, disorders like schizophrenia are likely to occur. Thank you for listening to me, and have a great evening.
