The current workplace environment comprises individuals from all generations, which means that communication strategies will differ. It would be important for one to be aware of the multigenerational environment and adopt strategies that help promote positive communication and interaction. My communication would be respectful and free of any form of discrimination including age discrimination to ensure that everyone understands the message I am passing along. It is recognizable that every generation has its preferred way of communication and an individual may have interacted with all of these strategies at one point in life. It would be safe to conclude that one would adopt a given way of communication when the situation calls for it.

Therefore, when engaging in multigenerational communication, I would ensure to adopt the unique and preferred mode of communication for the generation I am interacting with. For instance, traditionalists would prefer written or face-to face communication while millennials identify more with the internet. I would adopt each of these communication strategies when need arises. I would also encourage workplace training on the different communication strategies as identified by each generation to ensure that everyone understands the communication preferences of the other generation. My strategy would focus on all generations in the workplace and these include boomers, generation x and millennials (Wen et al., 2010).

The specific circumstances that would require specific communication strategies include one-on-one interactions or when working as a team. Communicating with specific generation in a way that identifies well with them would ensure that everyone feels respected when interacting in a team or face-to-face. It would also promote a positive working environment as it will help avoid age discrimination in the workplace to a great extent. A strategy that would work for all employees would be one provided for by the organization especially though training. Every organization knows the diversity in generations that makes up its work force. It would therefore be prudent if the organization identified a uniform way of training employees on multigenerational communication to ensure that everyone is acquainted with a similar way of communication in an environment with individuals from different generations ( Malek & Jaguli, 2018)
