I support Gardner's theory of multiple intelligences which look into intelligence in different ways rather than as Intellectual quotient. Gardener‘s theory postulates that intelligence is complex and thus cannot be assumed to be a single entity as most past theories perceive it. From Gardner’s viewpoint, people possess, many kinds of intelligence such as musical, interpersonal, and spatial-visual ( Sternberg, 2015). From the theory, if a person has strength with particular intelligence such as body movement; for instance, in football, he or she can possess other types of intelligence such as musical, spatial-visual, or linguistic interagency.
My diverse talents in both academics and music can justify that the theories of multiple intelligence as proposed by both the tri-archaic theory and Gardner make sense. I am good at singing. It is my hoppy, and I do it mostly during my free time. I have also composed some songs which I share with my friends and my family. I have also joined various music clubs in addition to music classes. Therefore, I can claim that I possess human kinetic intelligence as Gardner’s theory or contextual skills as described under Sternberg’s theory (Sternberg, 2015). However, I am also good at academics and interpersonal interactions. I also perform in my academics works. Academics entail problem-solving that demands critical thinking and analytical intelligence, which are under componential intelligence under Sternberg theory. Besides, academics require interpersonal as well as linguistic intelligence under Gardener theory. Therefore, it is wrong to describe me as a person who has a single type of intelligence, for instance, high IQ. It is because I also have weaknesses in other areas such as mathematical intelligence or visual intelligence .
