Introduction

Young kids normally learn via active participation, exploration, and via imitation, including the music that early childhood learning environments offer. In my case, I can remember us signing in class and in my neighborhood with other children, which led us to learn various things. One of the songs that I can recall as a child is, “I am Being Eaten by a Boa Constrictor.” Our teacher would guide us through the song by making us to repeat after her. We would play the musical bumps. As opposed to freezing when the music stopped, we would sit down and close our legs based on age. The last individual to sit would be required to assist the teacher in singing the music. The song was quite interesting to an extent that I perceived it as one of my favorites. It made us to pay more attention, while we would love it when we were all swallowed up. From my experience, I can say that music and movements is essential when it comes to facilitating children in growing up.

Body

Engaging in music and movement encounters with young children offers various benefits. For instance, the encounters are related to curriculum in that they lead children to become aware of musical activities comprising of musical games, sons, and rhythmic activities, which serve as teaching tools that boost the social skills of the children. Engaging kids in simple songs allows them to absorb social values more unlike in the case of classroom teaching. Songs and movements that emphasize on principles and values allow children to start including them in their development processes. Music and movement encounters provide kids with opportunities for singing while utilizing dance, singing, as well as certain gestures, allowing them to release emotional and social challenges. Children encounter new situations and emotions constantly while growing, while every new encounter serves as a contributor to social development. Utilizing music activities boost the social skills of children effectively, especially when instructions and interventions entail utilizing participatory activities.

Certain ways prevail of introducing movement and music to kids in a positive manner. For example, it would be helpful to play music during difficult transitions, such as lullabies when a child is sleeping, which assists babies in learning ways of calming and regulating themselves. It is also crucial to assist babies in moving their bodies while listening to music in line with providing them with instruments that provide babies with the opportunity of exercising cause-and-effect hence offer them a chance of understanding the manner in which a particular object operates. Singing simple songs to babies, such as those that correspond to hand gestures can allow kids to control their hands and fingers earlier than they can speak or sing. In the event of older toddlers, such as those aged between 12 and 24 months, it would be vital to encourage them to play together while learning together through organizing music parade, while ensuring that every kid plays an instrument. Selecting songs that build on the growing body of a toddler is also essential. Since the toddlers are able to associate with certain songs, they are able to anticipate what takes place next. Additionally, using songs that extend vocabularies is essential in allowing the kids learn ways of putting words and phrases together.

Music and movements allows children to learn various things. For example, they learn thinking skills. When playing while using musical instruments, the children are able to assess cause and effect. They are able to realize that pressing a certain key results to a sound. Music also makes it possible for kids to practice language. When singing, the kids exercise pronouncing words in line with combining sentences, especially via listening to song lyrics. Furthermore, kids are able to learn concerning emotions. These can facilitate in offering comfort and soothing, in the same manner that children love lullabies. Music and movements also allow kids to learn ways of following routines, such as whereby clean-up songs allow the children to realize that they need to do away with their toys and start engaging in other activities.

For singing, it serves as a vital tool for using with young kids. It serves as a major contributor toward intellectual, physical, social, cultural, emotional, and aesthetics development. It fosters participation, cooperation, as well as sharing. Via songs, the kids learn ways of subordinating their own desires to those of a group, which instills the spirit of cooperation among them. Additionally, music is normally effective in terms of permitting kids to adapt to social skills in enjoyable and fun means. Concerning music, it serves as a social art that has the ability of uniting social groups in line with allowing other people feel a sense of belonging while in a group. It also allows withdrawn and shy kids to associate with their peers, hence supporting social connections.

Conclusion

The song that I will be implementing to facilitate in my music and movement video assignment is “Who Stole the Cookie Jar.” I decided to implement the song because it provides children with opportunities for using musical instruments each, such as triangle, drums, and tambourine, while sitting while singing as in line with tapping along the songs rhythm and beat. Regarding the prospect of singing the song, I feel it can serve as an ideal one in allowing kids to develop thinking, social, motor, and literacy skills. I feel this way because it provides children with opportunities for doing different movements while at the same time singing dancing to the music. After the creation of the video, I can utilize the video and its contents in practice by showing videos in classroom setting. This would allow the children to have better understanding of the video, which would allow them to learn different things in life.
