Sexual harassment represents the physical, sexual acts committed against someone’s will or without the engagement of their express consent as pertains to the whole matter of sex. Sexual harassment can take place anywhere, and this can be at places of work, institutions of learning or even at home. In a school setting, this kind of harassment can be based on interactions ranging from that of a student to another student, employer to employee, to that one of an employee to a student. Sexual harassment is an affront to constitutional freedoms, both at personal and public levels, which justifies the institution of measures to curb it, some of which prescribe severe punishment for the offense. These acts can damage the institution's name among its stakeholders and even worse, damage the little trust gained among its constituents and so, require that measures are put in place to avoid them.
As the school leader, it’s my responsibility to make sure that in the aftermath of such like a case, the school is able to return to the climate of relative peacefulness and stability as before, and as well, is empowered to prevent recurrence of the same and to remedy its effects, both on the student involved and on the school community. It’s vital that the school provides strict policies, barring unwanted behavior by school personnel and as well, identifying ways to respond to such behavior. These policies should ensure that parents, students and school employees have clear guiding principles on what are fitting and unfitting interactions between adults and students in a school setting (Bradford, 2014).
Delegate your assignment to our experts and they will do the rest.
Furthermore, the school should be able to assure the school community that this kind of behavior is professionally unethical and therefore, very unacceptable. By organizing training sessions for the school staff, parents and by giving classroom information for age-appropriate students, I will ensure that everyone gets to know which kind of conduct is prohibited and how to take action when such arises (Alexander, 2015). These programs should be accompanied by the school’s adoption and publication of procedures that allow for prompt and equitable resolution of employee and student sex abuse complaints.
