I am the first child in my family to graduate from high school; hence my parents have many expectations. My success in joining college will motivate my siblings, who will work harder in their studies, to become more successful. I am from a low-class family, and my parents have struggled to offer me a quality education. My parents are high school drop-outs who were forced by hardships to quit school. Their financial situation makes them unable to offer quality education to all of us, their children. Their limited education has placed them under the lowest wage-groups in the US, thus making them manage basic needs. Due to these hardships, I started working at an early age. At only twelve, I was delivering papers for a local company, a job that has helped me relieve my parents some of the pressures.
The challenges and hardships I have faced in life have pushed me to study hard. I have always had much compassion for people, and through college education, I will be able to pursue the nursing profession successfully. The profession will be critical in fulfilling my long-term desire to become a successful nurse. As a nurse, I will use my expertise to reduce empathy for those suffering from different ailments. I request help from the Florida Nursing Foundation, as it is the only platform that can help me achieve my long-term goals. Over the years, I have heard of the exemplary impact the foundation has on needy learners. Gaining a scholarship from the foundation will improve my life and positively impact my family and the local community. Without this scholarship, I feel like my dreams will be threatened by my financial constraints. As a future nurse, I have several goals inclined towards the provision of care to patients. My fifth goal is to attain technological skills, which will be crucial in ensuring increased care outcomes for my patients. Through the scholarship, I will carefully use my institution’s resources to gain extra technological and life skills. My sixth goal is to learn management roles to become an effective nursing manager in the future. I will use my leadership skills to implement the right policies within my jurisdictions.
