Professional nursing organizations are representatives in the public policy making and healthcare administration (American Nurses Association, 2010). Members, via these organizations, get educated, develop their careers and undergo practices that advance the field of nursing. Networking acts as the convenient forum for both local and international discussions as well as legislation. The above increases professionalism and autonomy of the nursing sector in healthcare. Various professional organizations get together here to inform their members about healthcare policies and advocate for the patients’ welfare.

Furthermore, networking puts all the issues concerning the organizations on a platform that will enable them to be supported by a majority of the mass, thus improving the public image of specialties and nursing professionals. This also enhances successes of the legislative process. Moreover, through the availed information in networking, members learn the latest evidence-based practices that enable them to understand the direction to which every specialty heads. This will enhance their expertise in nursing (McCormack, Manley & Titchen, 2013). Nurses at all levels access opportunities to be involved in expressing the nursing values, practices, integrity and social policies, therefore, shaping up the healthcare policy. The organizations act on behalf of nurses to address such issues as education and conventions that directly influence its members. The members move out of their workplaces to meet new colleagues and new things to facilitate in advancing their career

It serves to disseminate professional knowledge via continuous learning, webinars and contact-hour credits that necessitate professional development. In the legislative process, nurses move out of their comfort zones to less familiar arenas where laws and regulations impacting patients’ care are developed since they ensure that the healthcare system satisfies the patients’ needs. Most advocates in the legislative arena purposes in emphasizing their point of view in a particular issue.
