The introduction of technology in the healthcare setting was done so as to improve the efficiency of the healthcare system and to enable patients and users access health resources through electronic means. However, the implementation of technology has not been a straightforward process as the new technology resulted in several challenges. The major challenges facing the organization include complex studies, combination of the biopsy procedure and a scheduled Dr’s meeting and order privileges of the doctor.
Complex studies such involving technology cases were found to take more time than expected. The tech cases that often occurred required a lot of time to solve. In order to solve the problem, the management should consider the tech cases, the complexity of the cases, and the time spent when solving the cases. Putting these different factors into consideration would help the management have a general overview of the performance of the technology, how it affects the organization, and critical areas that need improvement.

One of the challenges experienced was the scheduling of the doctor’s meeting at the same time as the biopsy procedure. It was observed that when the doctor’s meeting took longer than expected, he or she had to try to compensate the time by making the biopsy procedure short. The result was that the biopsy procedure was short, ineffective, and did not promote patient’s care. In order to solve the problem, it was proposed that the doctor’s scheduled meeting and biopsy procedure be placed on different times.
The current scope of technology was limited as it did not allow doctors to have order privileges when placing subscriptions. Doctor’s were mostly limited when making use of the technology. The challenge could be solved through a further development of the technology system where doctors have privileges.
