Executive Summary
The organization that will be the focus of this study is Clarkson University. According to the institution, both lean manufacturing and six sigma can be overlapped forming a more all-inclusive. Lean Manufacturing and sigma, are equally accepted and vital processes used as improvement methodologies when applied in the field of quality and performance administration. Relying on current and scientific literature, researchers have thoroughly examined the advantages as well as limitations of both methodologies. Nevertheless, the technique is compact but has limited scientific records on its applications and possible outcomes. The technique is effective as demonstrated by the overall outcome of the student group led by assistant professor Cecilia Martinez (Clarkson University, 2018). It should be appreciated that even though the use of LSS (lean six sigma) is part of major university programs such as Clarkson University, the only drawback it faces is limitations to graduate students only. Moreover, the students are offered limited support for their project execution.
However, the professor Martinez developed an infrastructure that allowed company staff and students to collaborate easily in teams executing the projects from their initiation to execution (Clarkson University, 2018). The main purpose that drove the development of the framework is to simplify the incorporation and implementation of the theoretical knowledge as well as professional skills in undergraduate students. This is a noted demand of organizations whereby they require their applicants to be fresh from school with experience in the field (Clarkson University, 2018). The framework operates by offering students with guided interferences, tutoring and finally feedback that is constructive. With a simple regime of four, four-hour workshops that are scheduled for every 3 to 4 weeks (Clarkson University, 2018). Others included weekly mentorship sessions with the students and in some cases weekly working sessions with the staff on-site.

Operations Management Practice
When the article is closely analyzed, an operations management practice is noted, and it aligns itself with BPM (Business Process Management). BPM is a method that relies on constant analyzing, improving and automating the process (Jeston, 2014). This is similar to what the students were performing at the local health centers. The operated on the notion that they were on the lookout for any potential improvements in the activities (Kothari, 2018). The problem that the students noted were several, and by the end of spring 2018, they were able to improve average inter-hospital transfer times by 41% (Clarkson University, 2018). The transfer of patients from the emergency department to the intensive care unit was improved by 46%, and finally, the accuracy of patient registration was improved by close to 80% (Clarkson University, 2018). They made this improvement by identifying redundant as well as unnecessary procedures that took up a lot of valuable time. Moreover, they were aware of the industry standards that the St. Lawrence Health care was supposed to achieve. This offered them low risk, low-cost approach to raising awareness.
Personal Assessment
The same tactic can be applied in our organization; the operations department should be given incentive for identifying and improving redundancies thereby reducing company expenditure. Moreover, by understanding the steps that are linked with the application of lean six sigma the company will be able to seek to improve the means by which they operate continuously. St. Lawrence Health center was able to improve some of its core functions within fourteen weeks. In our company, the same effect can be experienced continuously improving the operations of the company.
