Change in an organization is inevitable and necessary for better performance, but the leaders in the organizations usually have challenges in bringing about change because they are responsible for spearheading a transformation in the organization. The following are seven critical actions that a leader must do to ensure success in organizational change.

An organizational leader must share the vision to the other people in the organization because it is easy to work towards something when vision guides an action (Carter, Armenakis, & Feild, 2013). The leader needs to start with sharing the idea because it makes it easier for other people to work towards achieving the change.

Becoming accountable is another essential thing that a transformational leader must do because a change in an organization is a critical thing that one must take effectively and efficiently (Steinbauer, Renn, & Taylor, 2014). Leadership accountability is vital when planning for organizational change because the leader will ensure that all things go per the plan for effective organizational change.

Stakeholder involvement is another necessary action that the organization leader should do for effective organization change (Battilana, Gilmartin, & Sengul, 2010). Stakeholders play a critical role in the success of organizational change, and it is essential to have all the stakeholders when deciding on an organization. Establishing an effective communication system with the stakeholders is critical towards achieving successful change in the organization.

The leader needs to remove obstacle in the transformational path, especially during implementation (Desai, 2015). Barriers are the greatest enemies of organizational change, and it is crucial for the leader to ensure that the process of transformation does not experience challenges because it can jeopardize change in the organization.

The change leader needs to make use of available tools and skills to ensure effective change (Warrick, 2011). Effective communication is an example of essential skills that a leader must have because it enhances the sharing of information and ideas that play a critical role in ensuring the effective transformation of the organization.

Enabling the environment for the change is also an important thing that a leader can do. Modifying the infrastructure and support system in the organization is necessary for the shift (Kindström & Kowalkowski, 2013). Enabling the organization behaviour towards the achievement of change includes realigning job descriptions and developing effective performance management plans.

Another critical action for successful organizational change is to measure performance within the organization (Fernandez & Rainey, 2017). For effective transformation to take place in an organization, it is critical for the leader to examine and realign current measurement system to support the change effort.
