With the aim to outweigh its competitor, OSHA has also made a step on integrating occupational safety and health towards going green and enhancing sustainability. It is important to understand the fact that sustainable environment is a result of people minding the environment that surrounds them. Therefore, the initiative of OSHA to go green is to promote sustainability and to influence employees to practice sustainability as well. OSHA has five green reform principles and we are going to discuss one of the principles in regards to influencing employees to go green (Gillen, 2013) .
Green reform principle 5 ‘enhancing workers’ voice in the workplace; this is the fifth reform that OSHA has reformed. It is a principle that is intended to help workers have voice in the workplace. The workers voice in this case implies to the ability of workers to practice sustainability even during work, even though the company does not advocate for such practices. Companies anticipate for healthier and safer future, it is therefore their own responsibility to ensure sustainability in any practice. OSHA influences workers to speak out any unhealthy practice especially pollution of environment. This will enable companies to practice safety measures that will have a positive impact in the future. These practices involve recycling of waste, safe dumping of chemicals, safe and standardized constructions and use of environment friendly equipment during constructions.

Workers should therefore have a stronger voice than they have now especially at work place, they have the right to access all information regarding safety and how to handle hazard situation. This is important because it motivates employees and enables them to be keen in every move they make. It is important to understand that working in danger environment poses a risk to these employees. Therefore their safety is important and that is why they should be sensitive about any practice that will endanger the future lives of employees.
