The business environment has experienced vast transformations over the years. One of the chief indicators of this change is the rise in the number of part-time employees in different corporations, including CPA firms. However, most of thee firms fail to offer any benefits to these types of employees. Alan should consider some factors to determine whether he should provide benefits to part-time employees. First, he should consider the minimum number of hours that they work for in a week (twenty hours minimum) and the number of days that they attend work before they are deemed eligible for the benefits. According to Bishow (2015), each part-time staff should have worked for three months or two hundred and fifty hours before they attain eligibility. Secondly, he should consider how productive part-time employees are when compared to regular workers.

Part-time workers are an essential part of the workforce. It is therefore crucial for firms to offer them full employee benefits such as health insurance, paid vacations, and 401 (k) plans, among others. The strategy would enable JSH to gain a competitive advantage over other more significant and less flexible CPA corporations since it would be able to entice top-notch workers. Mabaso and Dlamini (2017) claim that p roviding these benefits would increase employee’s morale for working, as well as their levels of loyalty and commitment to the organization, improving their performance and heightening their productivity, as well as the firm’s competitiveness. Furthermore, it is common for part-time workers to convert into full time employees, especially when they feel valued, appreciated, and treated fairly in organizations ( Bakotić, 2016 ). As a result, the rates of staff turnover decreases as more workers retain their jobs.

Employees are the most crucial organizational assets. It is, therefore, imperative for their needs to be prioritized, for organizational goals to be effectively met. Concurrently, JSH would not only become more competitive but dominate over other CPA firms.
