JOB PURPOSE

Job Title: Director of Patient Financial Services

The person-in-charge of this position will be dealing with the financial issues of the patients in the care facility. The job exists to enhance efficiency and effectiveness in providing patient financial information and to liaise with the relevant health insurance providers. The person-in-charge of the job will manage a team of financial officers and clerks in the hospital towards guiding the billing and payment services within the facility. Overall, with the patient reimbursement policies and the increased digitalization in payment methods, a director of patient financial services will be required to ensure that all these processes become a success.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

In-charge of all the financial officers, billing clerks, and clerks.

Directly reporting to the financial manager of the hospital.

Will conduct meetings and share financial policies with the junior clerks.

Will liaise with the state and local health officials to develop financial policies.

Create and manage training programs for the junior staff in the patient financial department.

Develop and maintain the digital financial process within the care facility.

Work hand-in-hand with the health workers to provide timely billing information to the relevant stakeholders.

In-charge of the logistics and the deliverables department of the hospital finance department.

WHY CERTAIN INFORMATION DID NOT MAKE IT TO THE JOB DESCRIPTION

The information that did not make it to the job description includes:

Creating a financial policy for the hospital finance department.

Receiving all financial complaints from the patients.

The director of patient financial services will not be tasked with the creation of financial policy in the financial department. Such a role is only preserved to the state and local officials who work at that level to ensure that policies are uniform and cut across various healthcare facilities. Also, receiving financial complaints from the patients can be a tiresome job as this happens more often than not. Therefore, this role will be attended to by the junior financial clerks and the billing officers.

QUALIFICATIONS

The holder of this position must be a graduate in one of the following fields: Finance Management, Commerce, Human Resource Management, and Economic and Finance.

A master’s degree in any of the mentioned fields will be an added advantage.
