In the given situation Mary and John lack effective professional foundations. Employees in a team must meet ethical guidelines, professional standards, and establish professional agreements in their workplace. However, Mary and John have differences, which are preventing them from maintaining professional standards. For instance, Mary demonstrates lack of ethical guidelines by rolling her eyes and snapping at John. Likewise, John demonstrates lack of these guidelines by ignoring Mary on work related issues. As a result, they both have a poor working relationship co-creation, which leads lack of professional closeness. Also, their poor working relationship is creating a psychologically unsafe environment for teamwork.
Joachim likes showing up for work and getting the job done on his own. His cultural background, upbringing, personality, among other factors, are affecting his role in the team. Due to his poor communication skills, the other team members do not feel like they can trust him. Arguably, lack of trust in a team may result in poor performance. Lita has poor learning and outcomes promotion. As she is a new member, Mary and John were assigned to assist answer her questions. However, due to Mary’s and John’s behavior, Lita does not consult them. Instead, she is approaching other overloaded team members, thus causing ill will. As a result, she might not learn the required skills effectively. Consequently, the manager is required to use various strategies and coaching techniques to solve these team issues and enhance productivity.

Use of gratitude exercises and activities strategy is essential in developing strong professional foundations for the team members. These exercises and activities will enable Mary, John, and Lita realize that negative thought patterns are obstacles in their careers. Gratitude journaling lists, and letters can be useful techniques in overcoming the obstacles in question (Moore, 2020). Once Mary, John, and Lita realize that negative thoughts towards each other are complicating their working relationship, they will start working on it, thus enabling the manager to enhance effective goal setting. Consequently, this goal setting technique will enable employees work together to explicit and work on them as a team. Mary and John will have to change their behavior, thus creating a favorable learning environment for Lita.
Poor working relationship is another problem affecting this team. However, use of mindfulness exercises strategy can be essential in solving this issue. This strategy include imagery exercises (Ackerman, 2019), which can help the team members to stay focuses on achieving their objectives and deal with everyday challenges. The manager should coach the team members to develop resilience that will enable them be more flexible and adaptive to challenges that may arise. As a result, this coaching technique will help Mary and John to be flexible and adjust their behaviors.
Additionally, lack of effective communication is another challenge affecting this team. Joachim needs to improve his communication skills. Also, Mary and John have a similar communication problem. Therefore, encouraging regular employee communication can help in enhancing the team’s productivity. The manager should develop a healthy two-way communication as their coaching technique (Grant, 2008). Subsequently, the team members will be able to give effective feedback and improve their nonverbal techniques, which are vital for enhanced team performance.
Due to Mary’s and John’s behavior, Lita does not approach for help. Instead, she seeks help from other team members who are overloaded. As a result, she might not gain adequate training, thus affecting her performance. As a result, use of imagery and visioning motivational technique, which includes goal visualization and guided imagery, can help in clarifying the intentions of an effective training on her career (Van Zyl et al., 2020). Additionally, outcome-focused coaching techniques is crucial for Lita. It will enable her develop a goal directed behavior, thus seeking help to the right team members.
