An internship is simply a job many of us get to secure that gives us that first invaluable work experience. I have relished my internship because it has been a revelation as I feel like I have taken a step forward towards my professional career goals. The experience has been great especially this week as I got to rub shoulders with experienced employer’s something I hardly get to do who after interacting with them shed light on some of the aspects of being successful in my soon to be launched career.
I got to understand numerous important aspects of work and how to be successful and key among them was the importance of networking. Networking is the proactive behavior that helps us interact with other like-minded individuals to exchange information and develop social and professional contacts (Mitrega, 2012). It is probably the single most crucial strategy for career advancement therefore vital to me to hone the necessary techniques.
Delegate your assignment to our experts and they will do the rest.
Princeton University sponsors one of the biggest networking events in the country where you get to interact with invited employers that are leaders in their respective fields. These events are sponsored throughout the year, and you can also listen to numerous panels, explore workshops and attend meet-ups. CoreNet Global, a Non-governmental association, holds networking events that pit top executives from various companies against millennials. My target employers Coca-cola Company participated in the last event alongside other companies and brought board members from the Coca-cola Scholars Foundation. They advised the young attendees on how to improve their networking techniques and be successful throughout their careers. The event also provides the opportunity for job seekers to mingle with employers from the different companies that are usually represented to secure a job or at least a job interview hopefully.
Networking can be a daunting task especially when you are an intern and hardly know people in the industry. However, at this age young job seekers need to master the art of networking to get ahead in your professional career.
