For most people, seeking education is an option which they had no choice in. Being in school is a choice which many students have no say against as they are required by law to participate and attain an education. Education possess as the first milestone to attaining a life objective that may be consciously or unconsciously set. Essentially, education acts as an avenue to achieving life goals and desires. Education gives an individual the opportunity to view life from different perspectives and make decisions that are well informed. In my place, the objective is to become a Professional Procurement Official.
A Professional Procurement Official is an individual who is world renowned. They are able to work in all the industries as the area of expertise is universally recognized. In the same manner, they are persons who are well conversant with the industries, be they local or international and have adequate experience in the field to understand how to tackle various issues pertaining to the management of the Supply Chain and any other activity under the Procurement or Logistics department. They are sole decision makers (Dominick, SPSM, SPSM2, & SPSM3, 2009).

To achieve this, I need to be well conversant with the laws pertaining to Procurement and Logistics in my home country. At the same time, I need to be up to date with events which occur within the industry and directly affect procurement in organizations (Dominick & Lunney, 2012). This would prepare me for the current vibrant market and keep me abreast with day to day developments. For this, I require extensive education and work experience that would act as guidance and safety precaution. This can be attained through higher learning institutions, internships and being a part of a Professional Procurement body.
There are very few recognized Professional Procurement Officials in the world, however, there exists several professional Procurement bodies comprised of individuals who are highly achieved in their respective industry. I seek to be diverse in experience and understanding of Procurement as a field.
From the above, it is evident that a clear and concise education where business understanding is developed is required. Procurement in essence deals with the purchasing and supplying of products, services and processes and through learning these various processes can one better understand their current point and how far they are to go in order to attain the goal. There must be strategies in place with milestones which would ensure that at the lapse of ten years, or ten thousand hours, one is a professional in the industry and has attained the goal (O’Sullivan, 2014) .
