The aspect of learning a new concept has always been challenging to me. However, I am always committed to completing my goal when I have embarked on particular the journey. To achieve this, I usually start by a careful reading of the procedures and the requirements while making my notes. Detailed notes that are handwritten provide me with a good reference when learning new a new concept. I have always found note taking as the best way to break down material that may seem complex in the first instance. Note taking makes the material more meaningful to me as I come up with new ways of solving my problems. Besides, it helps me in measuring the gains I have made in regards to the new material. For example, if it is a mathematical problem, I take every opportunity to practice the new skill until when I am able to adapt to it and can apply it in all contexts.
When I am unable to grasp all the material and steps, then I ask the necessary questions from those who understand the concept better or from the professor. However, before I ask for assistance, I try all I can to learn the material by myself as this increases the chances of me retaining the knowledge gained. Asking for assistance in some of those instances where I do not understand is another way that helps me understand better.

For the material meaningful to me, I also tend to write my examples of the steps explained in the new material as I learn them and ensure that I can follow each of them in every context. My other strategy involves teaching others what I have learned as it helps me to understand the new concept fully. I have learned that gaining knowledge with the intention of sharing with others makes the information simple, understandable, and memorable. Lastly, teaching also helps me to have a more critical examination of the topic, which enhances my understanding.
