According to me, the concept of "affluenza" stands for a state of mind in which individuals find themselves in as they try to search for happiness in what they desire to have in life. People have different needs. Some of these needs become compulsive that they can no longer be assumed. I believe Affluenza is that condition, which converts some people from being happy family members into becoming workaholics for the desire to acquire more wealth or status in society.
I experience affluenza every time I visit a shopping mall. My imagination is always set on those items that I cannot readily afford though I feel the need to acquire them. Sometimes I end up buying products that are not a priority to me for the sake of owning them. In most cases, I end up not using these products, but in case I do not acquire the products, my ego is never at peace.

Affluenza has impacted the way my family does things daily. Whenever my family goes out shopping, they end up buying unnecessary products for the sake of buying. My son is addicted to toys and as a result any time I visit a toy store; I have to purchase so that there is peace back at home. My daughter is always streaming on her tablet for the latest movies and songs for the sake of staying ahead of her friends in technology. Neighbors tend to copy each other on the kind of purchases they make.
At the national level, scientists continue to search for the latest technology to help improve the lives of people. It is a continuous process that makes people lack sleep for the sake of discoveries.
