Piaget breaks up development stages into different levels, each of which is characterized by emotional, physical as well as mental developmental aspects. As a normal baby grows, they are able to achieve certain developmental milestones .problem-solving is one of the most important skills that children develop as they grow up, and as they interact with their environment. The two children interviewed are from my daughter’s daycare. One of the most important considerations was whether they conformed to the age bracket during which children undergo the concrete operational stage and formal operational stage. The two tasks they were required to undertake were determining whether the two horses eat the same amount of grass when the portion with grass is well arranged and when it is disarranged. The other task is to judge if the amount of water put into two different cups, which are approximately the same, is equal and if they remain the same afterward when water is poured into another cup, which is different in terms of heights or other specification.
The concrete operational student displayed different problem-solving capabilities that could be explained by Piaget’s theory of development. The child who was interviewed was about seven years of age. For the interview related to volume, the child could tell that, regardless of the change of glass, the volume of water did not change. Although the child was not very quick to answer, at the end of it all, he got the right answer (azi & Ullah, 2015). For the amount of grass consumed by a horse, although the child took time to answer the question, at the end of it all, the child could tell that both horses could still have the same amount of grass. Both aspects can be explained by the conservation of numbers and conservation of fluids as tested in 1974 by Piaget (Börnert-Ringleb, M., & Wilbert, 2018).

For the operational stage, children approach problems more systematically and logically. The child was 11 years of age (McLeod, 2010). The interview questions were approached systematically. They were quickly able to give correct answers to the questions asked. According to Piaget, such results could indicate logical thinking and that they could develop a relationship between things (Hanfstingl et al., 2019).
The above findings could apply to an educational setting through teachers' understanding of how children develop. They will hence be able to apply the right tactics in developing children’s' skills while teaching them.
