Social planning is defined as the process in which the policymakers, that is the government agency, legislators funders and planners come together to solve the problems affecting the community (Bridgman and Davis, 2012). They work towards the community development and improvement of its poor conditions. The policymakers implement policies intended to bring out positive results in the society. The policies undertaken or implemented may be a form of incentives, law, medical campaigns, law, programs and services, information regulations among others. Moreover, a health board may ban the smoking of cigarette in a particular place. However, they ban to benefit the community and protect them from the second-hand smoke and in general reduce the smoking.

However, there is a history in several countries and the U.S as well. These policies are thought to be implemented for the benefits of the communities. Hence, the policymakers decided on what was good for the public at best. However, there is a massive usage of social planning for the benefit of political and economic of these planners, their supports and friends.

In some other cases, the well-intentioned plans lead to adverse outcomes for the society. For instance, there is a case where the policy planners put a policy of renewing the urban by a clearing of the slums around their neighborhood. However, this system was meant to make towns be a better place for the people to live, look attractive and healthier.

However, the plan was meant to make the community or the area have a new and attractive picture it destroyed the lives of several poor residences. However, the social planning should not only be left in the hands of policy makers but involve the people of the community to be affected to give their views.
