Question 1

The impact of gun violence in society goes beyond statistics and casualties recorded. Gun violence impacts millions of American lives each year, with many going unaccounted and unverified. In the last couple of years, every state has put together essential data, public data, and comprehensive data that continue to shape decisions and the magnitude of gun violence (Arrigo & Acheson, 2016). GunPolicy.org argued that over 80 percent of guns in the hands of Americans are unlicensed, and their usage uncontrolled. Roman, Decker & Pyrooz (2017) argued that the statistics in addition to the day to day killings put gun violence on the same level as drug and substance abuse. Prescription of gun violence is thus very critical to get the exact situation on the ground.

Question 2

Policy prescription refers to execution strategies and mobilization efforts to understanding and putting a policy in effect or comprehensive implementation of a policy, in theory, and practice. For efficiency, effectiveness, equity, adequacy, responsiveness, and appropriateness, the best criterion approach is extensive consultation and tailoring the policy to social standards and protocol. Through consultation, the public has an opportunity to understand and affect the desired changes within their locality without any resistance and objection (McQuade, 2017). An appropriate gun violence policy must put into consideration the real obligations that define a comprehensive public policy. By elaborating on the commitments to be achieved by the public policy, it would come forth as a local tailor-made concept for the locals at their social level.

The criterion of consultation and tailor-made approach allows for the locals to have their stake in the policy design and implementation. At the same time, it looks like a local’s policy; thus, the chances of resistance are limited. For the above six criteria, the most important for policy prescription is appropriateness; how suitable is the policy in line with the needs of the locals (Peled, 2017). For example, with the rising number of gun violence cases, a suitable policy should address how to reduce the many deaths due to gun violence.

Question 3

Tiebreaking Experiment

It is easy to extend the model. At the same time, the tie model allows for flexibility in uncovering information by assuming a single lottery priority, thus giving a chance for smaller capacities ( Ashlagi, Nikzad, & Romm, 2019) . The experiment also provides for more natural student ranking, thus providing an opportunity for discovering a broad set of hidden information.

The students who earned a general education diploma are allocated lottery numbers. Other students are allocated separate lottery. The allocated students are then assigned to their preferences providing a shorter list that will increase the chances of the students in their jobs. Through this, it will be possible to uncover relevant information from the students.
