As a leader and an advocate of democracy, the United States has held presidential campaigns in all of its presidential companies. In this light, the 2016 final presidential debate saw the two involved candidates, Hillary Clinton, and Donald Trump, discuss crucial political issues that affect the Americans. They are as follows;
The Supreme Court
The role of the Supreme Court in steering the country in the right direction. The interpretation of the constitution was a key issue raised under the subject of the Supreme Court. Both candidates stated that the election was all about the constitution and retaliated that the Supreme Court has the obligation of providing a non-partisan justice to all American citizens. However, while Clinton encouraged some flexibility in the interpretation of the constitution, Trump insisted that the constitution must be interpreted as the forefathers meant it to be.

The Second Amendment and Gun Ownership
While the two candidates supported the second amendments, Mrs. Clinton stated that it needed some reasonable regulation. She cited that 33,000 people died every year guns. She proposed the introduction of comprehensive background checks as well as the closure of online and gun shore loopholes. On the other hand, Mr. Trump objected any form of regulation on the Second Amendment citing Chicago’s high gun violence despite having the toughest gun laws in America. He suggested the appointment of justices who would not do damage to the amendment as the solution to the dilemma of gun-related violence.
Abortion
Even this is a social issue, there were a lot of politics when it came to the issue of overturning the Roe v. Wade ruling that gives women the right to abort. As a pro-lifer, Mr. Trump stated that he would appoint fellow Pro-life justices that would then overturn the Roe v. Wade ruling. On the contrary, Mrs. Clinton strongly supported the ruling on the grounds that it guaranteed a woman a constitutional right to make such an intimate and difficult decision to abort. She also expressed her support on partial-birth abortions which Mr. Trump strongly objected.
Immigration
Immigration was one of the most addressed political issues in this debate. On one side, Mr. Trump proposed that all illegal immigrants should be deported citing their involvement in criminal activities against the Americans. He also highlighted the issue of drug trafficking, particularly, heroin, which has destroyed the lives of many Americans. He promised to build a wall on the Mexican border in order to keep illegal immigrants and their criminal activities off the American soil. Mr. Trump also attributed Islamic immigrants to the radical Islamic terrorism the country has experienced over the years. He promised to carry out a major deportation of all undocumented immigrants to curb such problems. On the other hand, Mrs. Clinton disapproved the deportation of undocumented immigrants citing their potential to improve the American economy. On the contrary, she promised to offer a package that would lead to citizenship to all undocumented immigrants. According to her, this would not only benefit the 11 million undocumented immigrants, but it would also protect the four-million children born of these immigrants.
Other Political Issues
The other political issues raised in the debate include the involvement of Russia in American elections. Mrs. Clinton accused Mr. Trump of working with Russia to launch cyber-attacks on her campaigns, claims that Mr. Trump vehemently denied. The issue of Iraq was also talked about with respect to foreign policy. Mrs. Clinton did not support posting American forces in Iraqi while Mr. Trump accused her of the withdrawal of American forces from Iraqi after the first invention. Nevertheless, Mrs. Clinton promised to use American intelligence agencies to manage the issue of ISIS. If elected, Mrs. Clinton promised to make America protect American families against powerful corporations, create employment and improve education. On the other hand, Mr. Trump promised to make America great once more by taking care of the military, the veterans, the African Americans, the Latinos, and most importantly deporting illegal and undocumented immigrants.
Against the expectation of many people, Mr. Trump won the November 8th elections. Since then, President Trump has followed through with some of his promises. In 2017, he deported more than 81,000 undocumented immigrants as well as ended the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program. He also implemented a travel ban against citizens from Muslim majority countries in a bid to curb radical Islamic terrorism against Americans. In addition, the first 20 miles of the Mexican Border wall was launched this year.
