Parenting globally share three main objectives: being mindful of the child's health and safety, ensuring the child develops to be a responsible and productive person in life, and transferring cultural values to them. Being a successful parent is involving, particularly to the point of ending up with a productive adult (Pinquart & Kauser, 2018) . There are various parenting styles that parents can employ on their children including authoritative, authoritarian and permissive parenting styles. The paper will explore these styles, their effect on the child’s development, as well as develop a positive parenting style.

Managing Behavior as a Parent

The authoritative parenting style is more of a dictatorship as the parents would train the child to behave in some way and typically to an expected standard. A child that does not comply with the standard that the parent is envisioning will be confronted to be tuned in some way. The authoritative parent will not inquire about the situations and reason why John behaved in some way and will straight away bar him from an activity (Bjorklund & Causey, 2017) . If still adamant to change, the parent will cause the child to fear to do something else. The parents set high expectations for John and they are involved in frequent communication with the him.

An authoritarian parent would be warm with their child. They will take note of circumstances and reasons behind changes in conduct of John, and with their authority offer a good option to the arrangement. They will present the child an alternative to alter his behavior through encouraging him (Bjorklund & Causey, 2017) . Even with this, the authoritarian parent will ensure compliance and the best for John. On the other hand, a permissive parent will manage the behavior of John by offering him a chance to continue behaving the way he deems fit with the fear of rebuking him (Pinquart & Kauser, 2018) . They would be tolerant with the child, making assumptions that the child knows about his situation and environment, and will alter his behavior if appropriate.

The Effects of Each Parenting Style

An authoritative parent would initiate explicit sternness in handling the John’s circumstance and subsequently enable conceivable discipline. The child display increased level of rational thinking. John would be hesitant and fearful going forward. He will always rely on the parent’s direction in making own decisions and will not develop the courage to make choices by their own, lest he be rebuked and discouraged. As for the authoritarian parenting style, the child would be prompted to do whatever is required of him at each particular time (Smetana, 2017). Of course, this will be done by making him understand the circumstances surrounding an issue. John will be satisfied that he was made part of the process of shaping his life. He will be confident to make decisions by himself. Lastly, the permissive parent is lenient, and may make John irresponsible and more violent at times (Pinquart & Kauser, 2018) . Having been allowed to make his own decisions with limited guidelines and correction, he may always take wrong decisions and still feel he is right. He will always be regretting of wrong actions that would not auger well with him.

Child Rearing Parenting Plan

According to Jean Piaget, children develop through stages of improvement or development. Mary and Paul need to have periods to experience and understand the stages and the activities that they should be engaged with. There is a need for them to be involved in weekly sessions where they get equipped in Piaget’s premise of stage of improvement and later be informed concerning parenting styles and how they would fit in every stage of a child development and situation (Pinquart & Kauser, 2018) . The parents would be demanded to be aware of the circumstances of the children’s activities and make decisions based on them.

Definitive child parenting approach would be suitable and recommendable for most parents. This approach causes the parents and the children to recognize the situations and examine them together to give their perspectives and purpose behind every activity and decision (Bjorklund & Causey, 2017) . The approach reinforces the specialist position of the parent while making decision and encouraging confidence, certainty and flexibility on the children within the appropriate parameters. It creates a trust aspect between the parents and children leading to intelligent choices in the family.

It is significant for parents to understand the phases of improvement in their children since it is the stages that determine the decisions and basis for every activity. Comprehending the phases enables the guardian to attach a clarification and direction for every activity (Pinquart & Kauser, 2018) . They will not just guess procedures without first anticipating and preparing for their children’s development and learning (Smetana, 2017) . For example, John being five years, he joins the Concrete operations where he will get to understand the intelligent explanations of his physical experiences. There is a likelihood that the infant is exposed to John, or he considering that he is the big sibling. In conclusion, the parent should understand their child and apply the right parenting style for a better behavioral outcome. The environmental aspects that cause parents to embrace less ideal approaches in dealing with their children should be avoided.
