In the contemporary world, the social media surrounds vital aspects of our everyday lives because its purpose is not primarily for socialization as earlier on. However, social platforms like Twitter, Facebook, Opinion editorials, etc. provide opportunities for collaborating, connecting, and responding to certain ideas through active conversations (Hestres, 2017). Therefore, the positive use of social media allows for the effective issuance of policies that promptly reach a wider target population. Healthcare professionals can use the same platforms to influence public opinion in an attempt to implement mandatory depression screenings in Miami-Dade high schools.

I can use social media platforms to deliver news and offer opinions of different individuals. This is because many people currently depend on Facebook, Twitter, opinion editorials and others to get informed about issues in the world around them. Therefore, posting the policy recommendations concerning the mandatory depression screenings on the same social platforms is an effective means of influencing people’s opinions (Hestres, 2017). For example, various healthcare institutions and related research agencies use the same platforms to link the communication gaps between policymakers and researchers, and the general public. Typically, the center for disease control and prevention has, over the years, leveraged Twitter to send many messages to different research organizations and the online community to give updates on the state of depression screenings among adolescents.

Again, I can use the platforms to create massive awareness by primarily influencing political opinion to keenly meditate on overlooked information relative to specific policy priorities. In this case, I will be able to disseminate information concerning mandatory depression screening in the aforesaid high schools in a cost-effective manner through connection, communication, and achieving input from the public (Hestres, 2017). However, I would consider how effective other advertisements launched before mine progressed, and tweak the latter to be the most influential. Again, I would consider broadcasting policy priority issues in the context of media usage to fit the interests of the public. This is because by so doing, my efforts will seem more professional on the social networking sites as regards how information relating to patient education, care, and the general public health will be addressed.
