The stress attributed to unemployment also subjects individuals to increased risks of drug abuse and alcoholism, especially for the ones having a drug problem history (PrisonFellowship, 2019) . Nonetheless, securing employment post-prison is among the vital things that that prior offenders can do to boost their potential for success (ConnectNetwork, 2016) . They realize benefits, such as a stable routine and regular income as well as realize a major boost in their self-confidence.

Engaging the community would serve as one of the key ways of preparing inmates for employment after prison. It opens employment doors since family members and friends can help in securing employment (ConnectNetwork, 2016) . The community members might know people who are hiring or own enterprises that can aid ex-inmates to get started. In the absence of information pertaining to people who are hiring, it is possible to advocate for prior inmates by expanding into prevailing networks and offering positive testimonials. The odds might rise what people with employment opportunities would emerge (PrisonFellowship, 2019) . The chances of securing employment rise when individuals knowing prior inmates or their families show willingness in offering recommendation.
